PCGB Crested License Plates

Having viewed the pictures posted in " Show your Car Pictures" , I see a number of you have registration plates with the Club crest or the Porsche crest on one side.

Where can I get these ?

Thanks in advance.
 
I got mine from Design 911, I had to send off the 2 little stickers, pcgb and porsche logo, then they put them in the number plate. You can get the stickers from the club, check the size is right, prior to sending.

I got mine done at the local motor factors - the guy was really helpful and seemed to enjoy doing it. With the recent law changes I' m not sure whether they would be so co-operative now though.

I had a feeling there may have been some sort of change in the law as I' m sure there was a website which you could send away to and they would put all sorts of logos onto licence plates.

What was the law change all about then ?
 
Apparently you have to be registered with the DVLA or Dept of Transport to be able to make number plates. They also have to see the registration documents of the car, record the details, and the post-code of the company making the plate has to be visible under the registration number. It's all to do with cloning plates etc.

I got my historic (pre-73) plate from a company via the internet just before the law came into force. I'm not sure if historic (silver on black) plates have to have the post-code at the bottom of the plate now too.
 
They dont tend to back date policy, I recently got a set of silver on black without postcode, I cant see that they can inforce that, too many classic car buffs who wont stand for having postcodes on the plate as it is not original.

Does anyone know for sure what the law is now?
 
Would appear that the law applies to reflect plates not to silver on black, although I havent confirmed it. This company should be able to advise you.

Standardising the plates is to make it easier for the image recognition systems. This is related to the various speeding devices, as well as the congestion charge (which will probably now spread nationwide).
You might not have noticed, but the font has changed.

I got a new plate a few weeks ago. Despite having the car outside with the number plates on, with a broken front one, I still needed to show the V5 and proof of ID (which was my driving licence), before they would make a replacement for the front.
The details are then all written down and recorded.

The plates on my C4S just have www.porsche.com written underneath. No post code, and these have been done since the new laws have been in effect.
 
[:(] Sorry to be the bearer of unwanted news BUT. Some three or four years ago Number plate manufacturers were prohibited from using the Porsche logo (by Porsche AG) and adverts in Trading Post (before the current Porsche Post format) stopped. What I did was to purchase mumber plate logo (P.C.G.B.) stickers from Club shop and Porsche logo stickers from an independant supplier at Highclere.
The Club stickers are still available, maybe Bert Gear can help with the factory logo' s.[;)]
 
Factory logos are (or at least were recently) available form main dealers and are actually a lot cheaper than from most aftermarket suppliers. There are various sizes. Best guess for mine is they are about 3 cm tall. These match the club stickers. When I did mine the main difference was that the club stickers were for inside a screen and the Porsche stickers were for outside (sticky front and back respectively if you see what I mean)

it allways pays to check prices as Several aftermarket suppliers (Im not one of them) buy some of there parts from main dealers and sell on at a premium
 
It may, but probably will not, be of interest - but enclosed picture of ' show' plates were made up by Halfords using OPC Porsche crests, computer vinyl model script - total cost per pair £28.00. Affixed with velcro buttons. (Fall off at 70mph - as I found out on the way back from London concours at Syon House last year)
