Parking fines

Would anybody know what the local council (mine is Maidstone in Kent) can charge for parking in a non-parking zone (but causing no obstruction)?

Is there a different rate for parking on disabled space and if yes, any idea of cost?

(Just been quoted £201.40, but reduced to £134.42 if paid within 14 days), sounds high andodd, no?

it's likely that they can charge what they want (ie what the Council itself has agreed)

Hi Mark, obviously I don't have a disabled badge (although some people may suspect a mental handicap), not even a fake one.

I ask again, any knowledge of "normal" parking fines in your council area?

Within reason, yes. Or they may as well chage £5000, no? The questions is what is 'reasonable' by comparing with other councils. Any idea?

I was charged £50, reduced to £25 within glasgow for going over my time limit on a pay and display bay - I believe the fines for blocking a disabled space are higher, especially if it was brought to the warden's attention by a genuine disabled person.

I got a ticket in Reading for parking on double yellows. £40, reduced to £20 for prompt payment.

Whatever the charge the council is obliged to post the restrictions and the fine - as in, on a sign in view of the place you are trying to park. £200 sounds bloody exhorbitant to me but pay up as the council will be sending the debt collectors around if you don't pay and that is not something that will make your summer pleasant.....
