Panamera interior pics

There is no way to put this kindly, that is a butt ugly exterior, and the angle of the steering wheel looks naff as well. Apologies to any who are buying it, but it's not my cup of tea [:'(]

My guess is that it will be a bit like the Cayenne - hideous bordering on gross but extemely effective.
It'll sell.

I have to disagree with the "Cayenne is ugly" sentiment often mentioned. Yes, its not a very photogenic car, but then what 4x4's are?? and if you go to a dealership and look at one in the steel as it were, its a car that looks much better in real life than it does in photos or film.

I think the Panamera looks good in the pics and video and I fully expect one to look even better in the metal. Its certainly a much better looking car than the BMW M5 or the rather ordinary looking Audi equivalent. I have to look some pics up, but the Porsche looks more Maserati Quattroporte than BMW M5. Not so keen on the dash though. Too many buttons.

I think the Panamera (when finished and stripped of the test car disguise) will be a much better looking car than the Quattroporte.

However much I like the Porsche products - from 356 to the present, they have never designed a 'beautiful' car. But IMO the Cayenne takes the biscuit for poorly resolved design. Even for a big 4x4 it looks awkward, bulky, heavy and aggressive.

I hope the finished Panamera is better than the spy shots suggest.

Its strange. If you break down the design into it's constituent parts it seems quite a pretty car, but when you put it all together it doesn't quite look right - less than the sum of it's part in my opinion. It seems to have a large and heavy looking rear end, but a slim and slender front end. Feels to me it need a bit more flare on the front wheel arches (944-ish) to balance out the back end. Somehow it reminds me of a Vauxhal Signum.

I like the interior though - the way they've moved all the main controls (climate control, seats etc.) onto a more horizontal centre console. Much more ergonomic. The Panamera shaped key-fob would be good if it drove itself to you from the other side of the room.

Now if only they made a two door 2+2 version. A spiritual successor to the 928/924/944/968 we could end up with the best road-going sportscar Porsche have ever made.

I agree. I think the proportions work for what it is. It might look quite good in the flesh.

The interior though looks awful and there certainly seems to be a myriad of switches which, no doubt, do many clever things. Excellent, while ever they work. []
