Hi All

There is slight bubbling on the lower passenger door of my guards red '89 2.7 944.
I am planning to 'remove' the bubbling, then touch up with new paint. Any advice please on best methods
to remove the bubbling, then apply the touch-up paint?

Thanks in advance

Bubbles means rust. Remove rust first. Most likely you are going to need larger paint job than just some touch up.

Certainly. Rusting doors are really quite rare, in fact, I dont think that Ive ever seen a rusting 944 door before. Id consider buying a Guards Red door and swapping it over. I might even buy a few - theyre virtually worthless after all, and with more than one you have more chance of shade matching.

Hi,

If the door has been repaired before and the steel was not cleaned properly (salt removal I think is the necessary step) then it will bubble up quickly. However when you remove the bubbled up paint you'll find the steel, assuming its still got its galv coating, rust free.

How long have you owned the car, if its not long then the previous owner may have had a door repair.

You'll know when you remove the bubbled paint in either case.

you should also replace your door window seal strips otherwise water will still continue to enter the doors and rust the panels [;)]

Nightmare repair job which rarely lasts more than 2x years before it all starts blistering again. I would agree with others find a nice non rusty door it will be cheaper and better in the long term .

you can then spend all the hours that you saved on cutting welding treating filling rubbing down and re-painting driving your car instead ![:D]
