Oxygen Sensor

Hi Guys
If the oxygen sensor (I think the 2.7 should have one) was not connected what sort of effect would it have on the mixture?
Any ideas welcomed!
 
I think and only think the DME would go into safe mixture mode. To me that would err on the caution side of being rich as opposed to lean. Paves the way for guru to now come along. Would defo mess up your emissions though.
 
The 2.7 unless its an import will not have a lambda sensor. If you look under the bonnet the connector for it is at the back of the engine and will have a loop of wire fitted in place of it.
 
Thanks guys - it has a custom s/s exhaust on it so wasn't sure if it had been removed and if so if it could explain the over rich running!
