today, i decided to go and have a proper run in the cab, so first things first, off to mothercare for a kiddie seat. anyway, got the nice laydee to try one, and as soon as i mentioned i have a 944, she said try the britax eclipse si. soooo, traipsed to the car with the seat, the nice laydee tried it and fitted like a glove (on the front seat, not the rear!) sturdy as a rock, and snug as a bug in a rug junior was [:D]

here's a link to anyone who might be interested:-

anyway, drove for around 50-60 miles, and the car is superb. comfy, quick, quiet even with the roof down and the grip is brilliant. the wifey was in the back and was comfy-ish, but the front seat does need to go forward a bit on the base for the leg room, so i'll sort that! (too eager to go out as soon as the kiddie seat was fitted, so didnt adjust at the time..... oops! [;)])

went to parkgate on the way home for an ice cream, and the amount of people stopping and asking q's about it [:)] made me feel real good and proud to own it. [:D] one middle aged guy and his wife (i say middle aged..... about 15 years older than me, so in their mid fifties [;)]) were looking over it for about 20 mins, they couldnt get their head round the fact that it was 21 years young. now its nicely polished and clean both inside and out, it looks superb!!! [:D] [:D] [:D]

first proper drive and i'm exstatic about it. cant believe i've waited so long to own one!!!

Great to hear it's lived up to the expectations!

I did a show a few years ago, one of the early MPH "Top Gear" shows at Earls Court. We had all '80s Porsches, all in Guards Red. Seven cars, including four rear-engined things, a 924, Tref's 944 Turbo and an S2 Cab. If I had a pound for every bloke who saw the cars, reminisced over wanting one when he was growing up, and then fell over backwards when he realised how low prices were, I'd be on the GT3RS forum by now. And that was when S2 cabs were regularly hitting over £9K.

Ah thats was the first time I ever went to anything put on by the club, I remember it well. It was a great display and got me hooked into club events from that point on (curses !).

Glad the car lives up to your expectations even at this early stage - prolonged ownership will reveal even deeper and impressive traits that she has too. [:)]

Welcome to the club.
I'm also a newbie to the 944. Bought her in June and have been on several club runs and Rallys since. Loving my 944S2. Can't believe how well it goes.
Hope to see you at a PCGB event soon.
Marcus
