OT: Mad cars that start crazy thoughts

I know I can't be the only one guilty of this but I was bored the other night so though I would spend an hour browsing the net for unusual race cars. Well I found one and for about 2 seconds I had those crazy thoughts about selling all our cars and raising a bit of cash before I had to wake up to reality [:D]

...and before anyone dismisses it 600+ Bhp and 1180 kg means mucho fast, mental fast if the one at last years CSCC FC meet at Snetterton was anything to go by.

I don't know about any of you but I would love to have that thing.

Fen had one of those, and I got the impression that the running costs were substantial. (Didn't he say they compared slightly unfavourably with a Ferrari F355 in terms of £/mile?)

Oli.

After getting a run in one of these at weekend

I (attempted!) to keep up with one of these on a trackday 2 weeks ago.

It was leaving Caterhams, 944 and TVR in the dust!

Bit quick

They are that - and they do cost a fortune to run. Apparently it is an engine out job to replace the starter motor!

Not sure about the Camaro. Might be quick in a straight line, but eventually you are bound to encounter a bend and that is where you are going to come unstuck!

This is a dangerous thread to be reading in my current state of mind. The Ultima even has my numberplate.. pity it doesn't have a roof.

p.s. I've been reading that big Autocar special with the top 10's from every car ever tested. The RS6 avant still holds the wet track record for Autocar's tests.

Nice to see my 996tt level pegging with the latest 1200hp Veyron supersport for pace off the line though. Joint number 2 spot for the 0-30mph record. Not bad huh.

Just to add my 2pence. I think these are going to be a very appealing purchase in another couple of years. The new 500hp 5.ltr v8 Supercharged (even typing this is pleasurable) XKR. Now it has the nicer new interior styling and the power to go with it I'd have one over a DB9. Wouldn't even hessitate.

I could take or leave the F430. If I were able to afford a Ferrari and had the desire to own one, it would have to be a front engine'd one - but I just can't see the point in owning a very expensive car that is even more expensive to drive, attracts the wrong attention and who's value is reduced if you drive it. Sort of defeats the object. Far better to have a 911TT or even a Nissan GT-R - quicker cars which you can actually drive and leave in a car park. But the Jag and GT3RS is a great car combo to have.

This one floats my boat:-

I guess that he just happened to have all three cars out when he took the photo!

I can't really blame him, if you've got it flaunt it, right?

That is a great car that I may well own at some point, not something mad and completely nonsensical like my camaro race car suggestion [:D]. The 24gt is also one of two cars I regret not buying when the price on them was more comparable with 944 prices. The other was the 73 911 2.4S that I didn't buy at £17K several years back [:(].

Another that I did actually come close to buying was a Venturi atlantique for about 20 grand a couple of years back. Haven't seen one for sale since. Decided to spend my money building a race/track car instead which is probably the best thing car wise I have ever spent money on.
