http://www.porscheclubgbforum.com/tm.asp?m=744315 What a coincidence (because I searched tinternet for CQ-F35). I can confirm that this was the model fitted to 1988 built 1989 model year cars. I still have one from when it was quite new.

Just wondering what the original stereo looks like, has anyone got a pic/link?

The std stereo for a '88 turbo, I quite fancy putting something older in but not too sure what came as standard.

Thanks in advance :)

Dunc.

Thanks, I'll keep an eye out for something similar (or something the same)! I had assumed it would be Blaupunkt for some reason. Dunc

Hi Dunc I have the original radio cassette player and a seperate 6cd player(sit in boot) , all cables and connectors. The head unit is a cr 21 IIRC .Pm me if interested , Ciaran.

My 1986 turbo has this same Panasonic head unit fitted when I bought it. It weighs about three times as much as the modern Clarion unit i recently fitted. The Panny has a die-cast alloy chassis, really nicely tactile controls and excellent user interface (i.e. everything isn't buried in menu's that are not safe to navigate when driving - hmm there's a thought, why not make head units that are safe to operate when used in something where distractions from the road are a bad idea, something like car for instance?)

Porsche used Blaupunkt units. Several different versions were available. Just got from a friend of mine a Blaupunkt amplifier with equalizer, it's similar like in this picture

That Blaupunkt amp/equalizer was widely used on german cars back in the 80's. For example it can be found from BMW's Sound System as well (Have a complete Sound System for my 1988 E30) Porsche had it's own mounting bezel made for this unit, and so did several other companies, like Opel(Vauxhall) as well http://www.ebay.de/itm/Opel-Senator-B-Irmscher-Equalizer-C30SE-C40SE-C30XEI-BEA-80-Blaupunkt-/310676729447?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_77&hash=item4855c6ae67

Thats why I said mostly. The radios were fitted by PCGB, not the factory. I used the radio out of a 1986 Turbo for years in my daily drivers and I still have the F35 from my Turbo S in the loft now. Id probably have used that in my 2.7 if Id known where the cage was.
