Oil level measurement when filling up

The drivers manual for the Cayman S states that the oil level is automatically checked when filling up. This has never happened for me (neither did it ever happen for my previous MY03 Boxster). I know that there are various criteria for this to happen and i'm sure that i'm not meeting one or more of those criteria.

I usually fill up within a mile or two of driving off, so the engine hasn't warmed up. Could this be why the oil level isn't being measured when filling up?

Measuring the oil level before starting the car from cold works fine by the way.
