Oil level indicator

My oil pressure indicator seems to work ok, I've had the oil cooler replaced and there are no leaks anywhere (yep, how surprising is that!). However, the oil level indicator seems to take ages before it moves.
Is this the norm and how soon after firing up the engine should it begin to 'work'?

Hi the engine needs to be warm or have had a run or left standing running for about 20 mins, take the car out and play for a time and then stop and check the gauge with the engine running also check the dip stick at the same time an see how they compare. have fun Berny.

The oil pressure gauge should literally be reacting to the accelerator i.e. somewhere around 2 on idle and upto 5 when on full acceleration and spending most of its time around 4 when cruising.

Sounds like its sticking, presumabably its ok after it starts moving?

[FONT=verdana, geneva"]Exactly as Gaz says (can also warm up stationary or out for spin - whatever suits). Watch for the oil temp gauge to lift off first marker and get close to, or on, second marker. [FONT=verdana, geneva"][FONT=verdana, geneva"]I, when getting warm, raise/blip the revs a bit to ensure flow through pipes/cooler is occurring full flow then I let it settle before for a few minutes before any reading.

The pressure indicator works fine, it was just the level indicator I was worried about but by the sounds if it, there's nothing wrong. Thanks for the feedback all.
