Do I really need an oil change at 4300 miles costing £540.73??
The computer says that I do!!!
I hope that it's not like Horizon!!
Total mileage 23635

Thanks, but suppose that it doesn't have to be done by Porsche UK? I used to have a Volvo XC70 Sport and it was serviced from new by an independent dealer but I still kept my Volvo warranty

Tom,

I think that applies if your Macan is still under the Factory Warranty but may not apply if you now have the Porsche Extended Warranty?

I believe that the Macan has an engine oil viscosity sensor which is instrumental in determining when an oil change is necessary, regardless of mileage covered.

You can get it done for around £200. Shop around for the oil (Mobil 1 ESP 5W-30 Porsche C30). You need around 8lt, but buy 10 for top ups. Halfords were competitive the last time I looked a few weeks ago.

Purchase a genuine filter from Porsche (use your Club discount), then DIY (plenty of videos on YouTube) or find a decent Indy. Finally, you need someone with an OBD scanner to reset the oil range. Piece of cake really! (y)

I noticed OBD code readers on the self in Aldi today, £16, didn't pick one up so I can't say they allow updates, their website might have more details.

The Macan's clever but I doubt checking oil viscosity. My understanding is Every 12 months or 10,000 miles whichever is the sooner.

Not THAT simple, lots of starts and short journeys bring the oil change interval down by vast amounts. Just how the car monitors that is beyond me but it certainly does!
