Odometer problems - Porsche Centre response

What concerned me regarding the original post was that Porsche wanted the old one back... WHY. Does this mean they are repairing them and selling a second hand odometer for £1,300 ?

In a word yes, although it will look brand new and not used when their people has refurbed it.

late to the party I know, I notice my 993 milage wasn't increasing, took me an hour to remove the speedo and pull it to bits enough to remove a broken small plastic 15 tooth gear, you don't need to remove the front face or pointer.

Bought a replacement gear off eBay for £5.60 delivered, an hour to reassemble & squeeze it back into the dash.

Porsche will just give it to some trainee to fix, give the dial a clean. Bargain at £100. Not so at £1,500.
Its always worth giving Bergmann a call, if he knows there's enough demand hell come up with a solution. Like the CCU fan.

I had the same problem. I bought a 15 tooth sprocket from Design911 and is possibly the most extortionate piece of plastic I have ever bought at £36. A bit fiddly to fit but nothing a pair of tweezers couldn't cope with!

Good to see some positive comments regarding Reap - Booked in for next Saturday - £150 to repair the unit and £40 to remove and refit.

My Speedo mileage stopped increasing recently. long story short I managed to remove it and dropped it off at Ninemiester last week, they have a chap in Norway or somewhere like that who repairs them. Fingers crossed everything will be ok, they suggested around £500 to repair it. I also mentioned that the display was dim and the tri- computer difficult to read, hoping that will be fixed as well. I will post an update Once I get it back.

Ninemiester will probably send it to Reap in Harrow.

Julian Reap fixed mine, while I waited (and watched him do it) on a Saturday - Cost £190 as per my previous post. Big thumbs up from me.

He has a friend in Norway that other things but not the Porsche odometers.
