Odometer gear

The odometer on our 1986 924S only works occasionally mainly when the car is cold. Indy Porsche people say a new speedo head or official repair after diagnosing a worn 'spindle drive' on the odometer side. All leads so far after posting last year have proved fruitless. If anyone could suggest any avenue we haven't tried yet we'd be very grateful. We plan to take it down to the Le Mans Classic in July and would love to know how far we have to go.

Had to do this repair on mine after I bought it. The cog wasn't broken but had slipped down the spline slightly so wasn't moving the dials. I slid it into place and put a drop of superglue on to hold it in place - no problems over the last 3.5 years.

Hardest part was getting the speedo cable offon again, so fiddly!
