Notchy Clutch Pedal

Hi all,

I have a small issue with the clutch on my S2, the pedal now feels notchy and the bit point is all over place . It seem like the slave cyclinder has given up?

I would look around both the master and slave cylinder for leaks before going out and buying either :).

I've only known the pedal lose all pressure and hit the floor when the master or slave are leaking? Sounds more like something sticking somewhere.

Thanks, I had the slave go on my van a while back, it's seems similar symtoms at this point. I'll get under it tomorrow and look.

I have had similar issues with my S2 (along with a noisy release bearing) and it seems to be the release bearing sticking on the guide tube. Chrisg had some good info to resolve this without an overhaul - see this posting All Forums >> [Porsche Cars (Registers)] >> 944 >> Clutch questions - strange behaviour.

I found that a quick trip to 6000 in third gear with a quick shift to fourth resolved my problem - the release bearing is still noisy but the clutch works smoothly and consistently:)

Also check the pedal box in the drivers footwell.

Mine had a crack in it which started off as a creaking and notchy clutch pedal but ended up causing a jolt to the brake pedal as well when the stud finally let go []

Right, sorry to dig up an old topic but I've been away for work unexpectedly for the last month. Car as it was!
So a bit more backround to this topic, the gears have been difficult to select at high revs, fine at lower. I've changed the gearbox oil. Clutch done and flywheel some 20k ago.
The pedal is fine with the engine off and springs back as you would expect and no creaking. No immediate signs of leaks around the master, slave or hydraulic lines but it has now been sitting for a month! The fluid level in the resevoir is still at max.
As the bite point is inconsistant my thoughts are internal seal rupture in either the master or slave?
