Non operational handbrake

Hi, I have a problem in that my handbrake fails to engage. I can lift it about 3 inches (in old money) but it fails to engage.

The car is due to go into G-Force for a 6000 mile service and geometry set up so obviuosly if I can resolve the problem myself it will save me a few ££££.

I' m not mechanically minded but will have a go if its simple enough.

Also I have a ' bullet' hole in my headlamp lense so I would like to replace it. Will taking off the bezel cause it to crack and need re-painting ?

Hi Darren, Your handbrake problem could be a seized cable (best left to the service). I removed both bezels from my headlights to fit " blue bulbs" and had no problems. Just be careful not to scratch the paint!

Thanks Neill, did the bulbs give you better visibility or was it for asthetic reasons only ??

I' ve toyed with upgrading the bulbs so when I replace the lense it may be a good time. Where and what did you buy ?

As an aside, I fitted Halford' s Xenon H4 bulbs (not blue) to my 3.2 some years back, and they do give better headlights. The beam is whiter, more focused, and extends further on main-beam. I did it because I found I was getting to the bends a bit quicker than my lights had time to illuminate them.

Mind you, all this means is that I tend to drive faster in the dark than I used to - so now I need even brighter lights to catch up !

Now you are being just a bit silly !
Just think of the extra drag involved, therefore reducing my speed, and reducing the need for the extra ' strange' lights.

Will no one take me seriously ? Boo hoo, I am all upset now, and shan' t come out to play !
