New Rear Boot Blind

OK, this is a bit of a boast because I am so chuffed!

My boot blind has always been in a really shocking state. It's taken me about 2 years on and off to find a fabric that can do the job and I finally tracked down some. I also tracked down a good automotive trimming company in Sheffield who were willing to do the work.

It cost me about £80 in total (inc fabric) but it's definitely worth it.

The fabric is a heavy duty stretch fabric and a very good match. I got it from e-bay and then delivered it and my existing blind to the trimmers. 2 weeks later hey presto!

Well done me [:)]

Fabulous - looks like original too (except for the fading and separating [:D] ) I found some fabric that was sort of close and had my sister-in-law sew on a reinforcement piece - passes casual inspection but its not great.

Do you still have a link to the fabric source? I think a lot of us would be interested.

Thanks

Very impressed with this.

I would, however, criticise you for only getting one made!

Please do post up the details for this. I wonder if the trimmers retained the shape / cut for future reference?

I bought 4 meters of a 10m roll from ebay. The roll was end of the line so the seller has no more and I only have 2 more meters approximately.

I have asked the seller if they have more and they say it's all gone. As it is end of the line it would need to be ordered in a roughly minimum length of 100m which equates to about 50 boot blinds!

Now I figure there would probably be not far off that demand so have asked for the direct contact details to find out the price for this.

I used a local trimmer in Sheffield to do this work but he was a bit of the pain in the nethers about it saying it was too stretchy for his machines (he's used to automotive fabrics and leather really and was generally a bit grumpy). I think I could maybe get him to do one more but I'll happily supply contact details as you'd need to leave your old one with him anyway. Otherwise most people can do this with the right machine, enough skill and a pattern to work from.

As soon as I hear back from the fabric guys I'll let you all know.

Still, I've got enough for one more if someone want's it badly enough though I do agree, a bit of a school boy error really as I should have ordered the lot!
