New Cayman 987 owner; intro, brake light issues and alarm issues!

Hi Everyone, just posting to introduce myself, I've just purchased a 2006 987 as a project and have lots of work i need to undertake to get it cleanly through the next MOT.

Hoping this is the right place to get advice and help and interest to help me through a few of the challenges i might find along the way!

My 1st and 2nd issues are: Does anyone have experience with the 3rd brake light being on constantly or flickering even when they key is not in the ignition?; My horn beeps when I lock the car plus the alarm goes off sometimes, any advice on where to start troubleshooting the sensors and alarm?

Welcome to Cayman ownership and to the forum … which is always a good starting place for advice! I saw your other post and it looks as though you’ve made some good progress getting the car up to scratch.

Regarding the flickering high-level brake light, perhaps the best starting-point would be to check the earthing? You might want to check the functioning of the brake pedal micro-switch (switches?) and the ignition switch as well.

The horn beep when locking the car can occur if items like doors, bonnet, rear hatch, fuel flap or even the glovebox or centre console lids either are open or if there’s a problem with a micro-switch, but it can also mean a problem with the alarm module itself.
