New 944 owner Project underway

Id definitely incorporate that feature then, as its a very simple solution with an added benefit.

Interesting project - do you mind me asking what kind of CAD software you use?

Chris, I look forward the the answer to Oli's question - why, or I might have put it, for what benefit?
A 944 crank weighs 29kg, so a 400g pulley reducing by 50% is a minimal gain? or am i missing something?
nice component images.

We have been doing lightweight pulleys for years, for many of cars.... The amount of people we get telling about the difference they can feel on the pedal is unreal.... better throttle response that is . I haven't weighed these standard pulleys yet but I will do next week when I start to make them.

Not only that, with a veriner pulley you can really fine tune the engine., Plus something I noticed the other day when removing the pulleys.... A couple of these plastic ones were nearly 10 thou down from there orignal size where the belt has rubbed in them over the years

Please keep a eye on the thread. I expect to make some real progress next week . Should be good

The plastic pulleys are generally changed at belt time anyway - I'd be more wary of the size of a 20 year old cam pulley. I think an adjustable cam pulley is a good idea but not convinced by lightweight crank pulleys - what about crank balancing & harmonics?

As long as they are good true , balanced pulleys they will give you no problems . We must of sold a thousand lightweight crank pulley for subarus in the last five/six years without any issues on bearings or crankshafts what so ever.... If you was putting a heavy steel pulley on without a damper I am sure that would not be the same story.

I guess your replacement doesn't incorporate a damper? Since the pulleys wear over time & get smaller with age, how do you replacements wear when compared to a standard steel item? Just curious.

Anything running a tooth form belt I always get hard anodized .... this is very wear resistant. Of course they will wear in time but I have never had a pulley back for that reason. Most pulleys on the market are just a normal colour anodize which will wear pretty quick

Have now finally started cutting some metal, been so busy these have been put back a bit.

Decided to make a small batch of these parts up
