Hi Guys
Well I gave my new Boxster " S" a nice 150 miles break in journey today and have now got just under 200 dry sunny miles on the clock and I thought you might like to know first impressions:-
OK I was somewhat disillusioned by the prospect of getting just 8bhp more than my MY2000 car but I can honestly say just like a 3.4 Carrera 2, with its extra 50bhp (not to mention extra Kilos!), felt so much more powerful than a Boxster " S" when it really shouldn' t have done .... this feeling is exactly what I now find the new 03 model has over the original.
I can only assume the new vario cam system, engine mapping/management mods and who knows what other tiny tweaks Porsche may have done but all these minor fine tuning changes appear to have quite drastically changed the overall performance package. My new car feels really alive from 1000rpm - 4000rpm, as I haven' t gone beyond 4k yet, and we all know what the old car feels and sounds like once it hits 5000rpm, so I am busting to explore the rev range further once a decent milage has been done.
Am I alone with these opinions or do any of you other MY03 owners agree with my first few days findings and finally any original spec " S" owners who don' t think the new car is worth changing for I would suggest you go for a long hard test drive and sample the new and improved overall experience.......It really does live up to all the recent press hype and test reports IMO.
