Colin, I bet the sense of achievement is immense. Really pleased for you. Did you drive the car before the gearbox strip, and could you tell a difference to the gear change quality afterwards?

Well guys after 5 years of my car being off the road I've finally got it MOT'd today. Flew through with no probs. Tester said he has never seen any car of that age look so good underneath.

I'll list what I have done

Body

Completely stripped of glass, interior and everything that could be removed including the wiring loom
Floor pan replaced with new factory panel
Inner sills replaced
Outer sills replaced
Intermediate sill replaced
Rot on roof at winscreen cut out and replaced
Inner wings om front replaced
Rear quarter removed repaired and put back
Rear panel under bumper replaced
Spare wheel well replaced
Front Bulkhead at driver's and passenger's feet replaced
Front wing ( nearside ) replaced with good secondhand one

Mechanical

Gearbox stripped checked and cleaned

New brake discs and pads and callipers repaired ( plate lift)
New front struts and springs
Total poly bushed ( all bushes replaced) and I do mean all of them!!!
968 clubsport anti roll bars fitted front and rear.
New Turbo Koni shocks on rear
New fuel lines
new brake lines and goodridge flexi hoses

Engine stripped all bearings checked and replaced where necessary
new head gasket
new valve stem oil seals
vales reground using 3 angle cut
intake polished
new belts and rollers
all engine gaskets new
Full drive line including clutch inspected and replaced as necessary

cup 1 wheels fitted

club sport steering wheel fitted

full respray inside and out.
And a whole load of other things I cant remember

I recon my parts bill came to about £3000

Labour was all my own and a couple of mates

Respray was a mate and cost me materials plus a few favours

All in all I think I am at about £9k including the car and all the wee bits and bobs you need to buy.

But my car is now ready for a good few years of hard use

Oh and I don't have any service history !!!!!

But who needs one of them when everything is new?

You must be so pleased Colin - I bet you'll be driving the pants off it now! The total cost seems pretty reasonable to me ;)

C'mon Colin you know the score by now - pics please [8D] Well done after all that hard work, must be soooo satisfying

Spent all day flatting and polishing it. Still got a fair amount of work to do. Just cleaning and tidying . Then will spend my evenings this week driving around trying to find any small problems. Drives like a bag of Sh%T at the momsnt it's all bangs and crashes. It just needs to settle and get a few miles under it's wheels. Then I am going to take it to Porsche in the Glen on Sunday.

Loved the story, blow by blow and now the finished article - superb! All we need now is pictures of the gem! Well done and seriously enjoy it.
