MOT time again

I had the radio turned off over the last two trips listening for any new creaks or rattles as the car was due its MOT.

Tested today and passed with one small advisory - some rust on a front chassis rail where the underseal had been rubbed off. Test station has a reputation for being strict, but they even changed the alignment of one headlight to ensure a pass.

Out of interest CO was 0.38% with HC at 56 ppm - not bad after 128,000 miles. Does not seem to use any oil either between changes and the oil stays clean.

Gives you a nice warm feeling driving home and I can now turn the radio back on.

My S2 has a new ticket as of last week as well. Passed first time, although the handbrake did get an advisory as did the 2.0mm of tread on the front tyres.

Mine just scraped a pass on the CO - it was 3.21%. (Limit is 3.5%). It has always been high (the last 3 MOT's have produced a reading of 3.2% so it's not getting worse) but what does high CO mean and what can be done about it? The plugs, leads, dizzy and rotor arm are all new within the last year or so. Does this point to the AFM?

Sounds like it is idling a bit rich. What are the hydrocarbons like?Air filter nice and clean? Idle a bit low perhaps?
 
HC are very low. Can't remember the figure but nothing at all to worry about.

Air filter is cleaned fairly regularly - every time it is serviced, for sure. Idle speed is just below 1000rpm, so right (as far as I know.)

Dropped mine off for it's MOT this morning, so I've got my fingers crossed. While it's in there i've also got them replacing the rear brakes (bit of a vibration from warped disks) and checking the suspension geometry as I've got no idea whether it's spot on or miles out.
 
Mine passed on Saturday. 150K miles and 21 years old! All perfect except an advisory on handbrake efficiency.
