cab went in for its mot, it needs the handle fixing (broke from the inside) and thats it. mot tester very impressed, solid as a rock. just need to get the door handle fixed and good to go. all in all, a happy bunny.

took the door card off, and its a new handle needed, so part to be ordered and fitted. there going to do a temp fix so the door can be opened until the new handle arrives and can be fitted so an mot cert can be given.

Great news. Out of interest, does the boot have to open via the external key lock? Mine is knackered, though the electric release in the driver footwell works ok.
Apologies for the thread high jack and thanks.

it has an electric release, but can be opened by the key. even with a flat battery, it can be opened with the key.

Sorry, I wasn't clear. I was meaning the external lock is knackered, but the electric interior push button works fine. Does the key release have to work in order to pass the MOT?

if the boot can be opened, then it will be fine. there are many modern cars that dont have an external lock to open, only an internal release or from central locking. my c4 only opens from the central locking, you cannot open it seperately.

mine failed initially this morning because you couldnt open the drivers door from the outside with the handle, but whipping the door card off to temp fix till the new handle comes sorted it. it would probably be ok for ages, but i want it to work properly.

as long as the boot and bonnet are secure, then i think thats all thats tested.
