MOT passed and idle fixed!

Had some good news this morning... just wiper blades and headlight alignment needed!

The garage also found the poor idle issue that eluded me for weeks... there was a split in the thick vacuum hose (about thumb thickness) that
goes through a hole in the middle of the inlet manifold. The split is hidden under the manifold They patched it up but told me to replace it. Where does this hose go to? Do I need the
proper part or can I just get a length of silicone hose?

Good news - just what we want!

Hose is very fiddly to get at but its nothing special - I'd just swap it for a new standard hose, after all the old one has lasted 20 years.

(unless you're replacing all the hoses!)

Forgot to mention... I also asked the tester if there was anything else to worry about on the car. He said the fuel lines and one brake line were a bit corroded and should be replaced sometime this year.
Is this an easy job to do? Presumably it's just a case of buying the right tube and fittings and a lot of crawling under the car... anyone done this job recently?
