more relaxed driving in sport mode

No doubt some of you will think I have a screw loose, but recently I have started using sport mode all the time. My car came with sport suspension, so switching to sport mode does not make the suspension any firmer (than it already is [;)]).

It took me a little while to master driving the car smoothly again, but now that I've got the hang of the sharpened throttle response, the interesting thing I found about sport mode is that in addition to the luxury of increased torque (or illusion thereof ?) my fuel consumption has improved by over 10% in city driving. And I don't hang about.

I suspect that it has a lot to do with being more gentle with the throttle, but either way the difference is significant.

Well at least there is one other out there like me.
I use the sport mode all the time (standard suspension fitted) as I much prefer the throttle response and find the whole setting in sport has a lot more feedback/driver involvement.
I didnt buy my car as an executive limo !!!!
Cheers

Nice one. I'd written this thread off. It made me think I really was the only one who uses it regularly.

Re your comment about the standard suspension, I opted for the sport suspension mainly, because I tried the standard suspension (POSIM) on my first 997 test drive and found it too soft; within half a mile I was already reaching for the sport button. I also liked the idea of conventional springs & dampers.

It was a bit of a gamble, because there were no demonstrators with sport suspension available. Overall, I'm pleased with it, although suprisingly it could still do with less understeer, especially on roundabouts (or maybe it's just my driving).

I didnt get a demo as the car was reserved back in Dec 03 and full spec in Jly 04 so I just took the standard plus sports chrono. Anyway sold it last week as I found an 89 Supersport cabriolet with 25k on the clock. You dont know what understeer is !!!!!! [:)]
