Moment of truth

Tomorrow is the big day. JMG has been working my car since April and tomorrow I get it back, with the handover happening at Yeysport rolling road. The original brief was to change the head gasket, but in reality we have changed and modified the head, wastegate, dump valve, FPR, exhaust, driveshafts, header tank, brake lines, callipers, castor mounts, bushes, various pipes and plenty else that now escapes me. So that's another £5k invested in the 944 population. Will it have been worth it? Tomorrow I'll know. But if we see less than 320 bhp there'll be trouble! Fingers crossed (for Jon and me!)

Good luck Ewan!

Tomorrow I will be fitting promax chips, 3 bar fpr, boost gauge and apexi controller to my car. This will be in addition to the current SciVision MAF, forge dump valve and K&N panel.

Change out of £500 for the lot (mostly sourced used but not much use) and car away zero days.

I will be getting it set up tomorrow and will be disappointed if I don't see 300 bhp on the print outs!

Should be a fun weekend for both of us. I forgot to mention that they also fitted a new racing chip set, boost gauge and controller. But I am yet to fit the recommended Vitesse Racing MAF - which seems a tad pricey at, from memory, about £1500 Inc fitting and Vat! But if more power is needed, MAF and bigger injectors it will have to be, followed by an uprated turbo. Where will it all end?!

Errr......it doesn't end. I was more than happy with stock then the MAF appeared, then the K&N panel, then the forge dump valve appeared. I thought that would do, nice and driveable 250 turbo. Then as soon as someone tells me they have a spare set of promax chips and someone else with a spare apexi, all of a sudden i'm off sourcing a 3 bar fpr and a nice new boost gauge. [&:]

I will be happy after this..............oh wait, I have a nice new stainless exhaust coming and I suppose I really need a DPW now......

Anyone got a DPW they don't need??[:D]

Thats exactly where it has ended for me ! [;)] Enjoy the weekend and please report back on the results !

PS The Vitesse MAF is pricey but is an excellent bit of kit.

Good luck with that Ewan..... sincerely hope it works out well for... photos are now perhaps over due!

Good luck and fingers crossed for your 320+ Ewan.

Let us know how it feels as soon as you can (he'll probably be gone for days now driving the thing [:D] )

Well, all did not go exactly as planned. A weak spring in the waste gate meant that we were down on pressure and could only run at 12 psi - as opposed to the 18 psi (peaking at 20) as planned. So we only recorded 258 bhp. But apparently this bhp figure is commensurate with the aim of towards 320 bhp once the waste gate issue is fixed.

Should be fixed next week, with a trip back to the Dyno next Friday.

More finger crossing required!
