Michelin vs Pirelli!

My 996 turbo is fitted with Pirelli's at present. Two questions?

1. Does anyone know which is the Michelin equivalent? Michelin quote a couple of different versions
2. Any feedback from drivers using Michelin rubber

Personally I have always ran Pirelli's but I can get huge discounts on Michelin through Costco so being a tight Yorkshireman am considering swopping loyalties!
Ant feedback appreciated

I have ran both on the same car, Michelins were a more expensive tyre, but as you can get a discount not that much of a concern.
The Pirelli were my preferred choice, however I have read people say the exact opposite, The Pirelli has no rim protector- sad point but worthy.
Both brands wore to similar mileages,
I removed the Michelins due the amount of road noise when asking the tyre to work... they actually squealed under light cornering and braking []
I have discussed the same issue another owner on a 996 turbo, both of us had originally thought it was our cars until we had mentioned it to each other...
However its not a widespread issue from what I have read here on the forum.

Thanks. Costco are quoting £235 for the rears and £125 for the fronts. They also have a 20% off deal twice a year which brings the prices the prices even lower to188 and 100. They even quote £160 for my 255 run flat Michelins on my BMW.
Worth the £20 joining fee.

Have two fairly new PZero Rossos on the back, to go with older Assimetricos on the front. The Rossos have a substantial rim protector strip.

I used Costco but have never managed to get the 20% deal as so far it has always been a deal where you have to buy all 4 in one go and I just don't like the idea of buying the tyres and trusting myself to store them properly when I need them... the price is still pretty competitive without the discount anyway...

John,
You may find it interesting when you match the Rossos all around.

The N3 Assimetricos have a completely different casing design to the Rossos N4/5. The N3 Assimetricos have stiff sidewalls and are tuned for grip and response. The N4/5 Rossos have very soft sidewalls (relatively speaking) and are tuned for comfort/low noise.

ProTyre, the PCGB Open tyre support people, affirmed to me last year that they thought the N4 Rossos were a significantly inferior tyre compared to the N3 Assimetricos. Sadly the Assims are no longer available.

I've tried all 3 tyres (N3 Assimetricos, N4 Rossos, Michelin PS2s) on my 993 and GT3, and I think Michelin have won this battle by a mile.

I have run N4 rosso's on both my Boxster S and my 997 C2S. I agree tyre wear is an issue but they have never let me down on both road and track and they are quiet. Surprisingly the tyres on the rear of the C2S lasted 10,000 miles whilst the Boxster S only 6,000. We will see how long the N4'S last on my turbo.
As long as the comments are not negative I think the PS2's will appear on my turbo next as I can't shrug off the "tight Yorkshireman thing" and Costco will win!
