Once again R3 have been invited to be involved and display some of our cars at the Skylive Motorshow. Thay have a new event organiser this year who is actually a car club enthusiast, so he should know a thing or two about setting out a show field. He has promised us a bigger area to park our cars, but this comes at a cost, unfortunately limiting our display to ten places. This means this event is very much a first come first served basis when it comes to places. The organisers are very stringent, anyone showing must be pre-registered with them and filled in the relevant form and all vehicles must be in place by 9.30am at the very latest. All vehicle movement will then be prohibited during the show and we will not be able to leave until around 18.00pm.

If you agree to these terms and would like the opportunity to be involved with the show, Skylive have offered, as a thanks, free entry for driver and one passenger including free parking which is a great saving on ticket prices, while we get to enjoy the fantastic aircraft on display throughout the day.

Hi Greg,

Please would you put me down for a place.

Been a club member for nearly a year now and still not managed to attended a local meeting.

Will try to make it on the 12th April.

We did speak briefly at Fast Lane last year and I e-mailed you the other day about Corbridge this year.

Am hoping to sell two of my other cars this year to give a bit more time for other things.

 
We have an arrangement with the organiser that I will submit all of our entry forms together. As there are still 3 places left I was hanging on until this weekend before sending the forms out. Watch out for an email.

 
On that score then Greg, my brother-in-law was going to be my passenger but now can't make it so my wife Irene will be my "passenger".

 
Hi Greg do ya fancy meeting in the old farmhouse inn car park DL21JZ its about 1 mile away from airfield . Then we can go in together , what time are we getting there for .

 
Can I recommend a better route for anyone coming from the north of Darlington that by-passes Darlington altogether.

Take the Sedgefield junction on the A1M heading towards Hartlepool (junction 60/A689).

As soon as you get on the A689, turn right before the petrol station, thinks its a BP or at least used to be (right turn sign posted "Bradbury 1/4, Mordon 1 1/2").

Heading south, drive through Bradbury, Mordon, Great Stanton, then just after the dog kennels on the right (Little Stanton I think), take the fork left.

Go straight across the road at Sadberge, under the A66, this then brings you to the mini-roundabout on the A67 (east of the old farmhouse inn & two roundabouts from the access to the airport).

To meet at the pub car park you just have to turn right at the first mini roundabout when you get to the A67 rather than turning left to the airport.

Or there are two pubs in Sadberge to meet at but not sure if they have car parks.

(according to google maps, the Buck Inn has a car park through the archway but looks as if it has a gate so maybe shut/locked early on a saturday morning

I used to do inspections at the airport & fire training centre and used to use this route all the time to by-pass Darlington with all its hold ups.

 
Anyone heading down from Newcastle who wants to meet at Washington services prior to driving down to Darlington.

Meet from 7.45am to leave at 8.00am this should leave plenty of time to get to the old farmhouse inn car park DL2 1JZ to regroup with those going from the south of our region for around 8.45am and then hopefully driving on to the event together, the weather gods look to be smiling on us again this weekend so don't forget your pass and your sunscreen[8D]
