Max weight allowance in 997S "boot"

I have to deliver 6 small but very heavy boxes tomorrow (no idea of total weight, but two boxes is the most I would carry any one time and I am 18st, not all fat!).

Is there a max weight limit allowance for the front hole sometimes known as a boot?

Can't give an official figure but I can tell you that I have driven around 3000 miles around Europe with 18 - 20kg (2kg booze allowance) in the front without any problems.

I have just taken a quick look at a copy of the US handbook that I have on my PC, this states an upper load limit for the car of 1400lbs including passengers. I can't find any indication of an upper limit for the front luggage compartment - where is this?

Things may be different these days but in my manual there is a section called "Weights" and this gives a maximum front axle load figure. Empty car weighs 1350kg and maximum weight is 1630 kg so I have 280kg to play with - passengers and luggage. The maximum on the front axle is 690kg and on the rear axle is 1000kg. On that basis you are looking at a (roughly) 42%/58% weight distribution with a full car so assume its the same with the car empty and this gives a figure over the front axle of 567kg. Take the empty figure from the maximum figure and you get a (theoretical) figure of 123kg to go up front, probably less a percentage of the drivers weight - say 50%.

So.. the load figure is 123kg less 60kg (50% of big driver) which gives 63kg. I didn't say it was going to be easy (or very scientific) but the numbers ought to be there to allow you to make a guess. All the above is for a 996GT3 and I often carry two 25kg bags of salt home and this does feel quite OK so I reckon with a lighter driver you could go to 70/75kg in the front before it got iffy.

Thanks guys. On the basis of my 115kgs weight, I should still be okay.

Re RTFM, indeed, but that only works when the manual is nearby!
