Matt Black.....Hmmmmm

Ex Skyline

New member
Car's going in for a respray in a couple of months and I still can't get the thought of Matt Black out of my mind [8|]. I have seen a BMW M3 and a BMW Z4 done in Matt Black with gloss Black wheels and they look insane! Totally Awesome!! Would this be the first 944 to have this done were I to go ahead with it? I reckon it would look Bonkers!

Hey, it's your car so do as you will, and whatever makes you happy is fine, but I think you might be very much in the minority there.

Matt black can be challenging to clean from what I've heard although i think that there are now some specialist waxes etc.. Of course a wrap is cheaper than a respray and looks excellent in matt black

Every matt wrapped car I see now just looks dated; the idea had it's day. The chrome-wrapped 911 in Hemel is a trully hideous thing, it needs stickers on to say it's for charity or something!

The new Hyundai in a semi-matt gunmetal colour is kind of nice, that might be a good colour on a 44.

I'd go for one of the period looks myself; the 944 is a design that very much "of it's time", and I hate attempts to make it more modern. I even prefer them with proper indicator lenses, it's not a new car and the styling is half the appeal to me.

This is one of my favourites. [:)]

As you say guys "opinions are like a55 holes, every body's got one"! I'll let you all know what I decide. It's my choice and, I may possibly go for a Matt Black. It may look the Nutz and, then again, it may not. May just go for the Original Porsche Black, However, there's just some thing about Matt Black.........Hmmmmmmm.[8D]

It looks sh1t by the way.

Now I was about to say don't (there's a matt black Brabus E class in Swindon I see and I'm not sure) but that middle pic has something about it.
Might be inclined to wrap it but I'm less averse to the finish than I was.

I like those pics - didn't think I would

I would say that matt black would look good on a lightweight "outlaw" style build. I'm not sure that's what you're aiming for on this car though?

My car will end up with a matt finish from the brake dust [:D]

the answer is - buy another one - keep yours really tidy and put together a matt black stripped out one (early turbo on fuchs [:D])

Didn't think I'd like it but there really is something about the middle pic. Think the fact the badge is left on helps too.

love the middle photo too. My tuppence worth is the standard silver wheels offset the modernity of the matt paint.

Back from work now and still happy[:)]. Still going for shiney Black Porsche paint[8D][:D]. As someone pointed out, Matt Black is for Skyline's, Evo's etc and my user name is EX Skyline!!![:D]

Dated 4-7-12 [:D][:D][:D]

Matt finishes shout of trying too hard. But having seen your car at JMG, the sooner you make a decision and get it to the paint shop the better! That's not meant be rude Pete, I'm just not a fan of stone chips. If this was my car (again), I'd simply respray in its current, original black. It would look awesome and add value.

But that said, a little bit of me would love to see you go mental and mattify it.

Yep the middle pic had me too

Morning chaps, Love the middle Pic no end! If I do go Matt Black, that's the look I want to achieve [8D]. Ewan, it's because of the bl00dy stone chips that it's being considered for a respray in the first instance! []. Think I am going for the "Light weight" style to a certain degree, maybe partly stripped out to start with and, see how we get on [;)]. Terry, isn't Nile Green that sort of "Egyptian Sewage" colour? When we were at the "Ring", Jon and I fell in love with a Audi TT that was painted Battleship Grey with Gulf Oil Orange mirrors and, other bits and pieces! I'll ask him to put up a picky. That could always be an option [8|] Hmmmmm.
