Hi All. I’m aware there was a similar thread back in 2014 but wondered if things had progressed since then. My 2017 Macan S suddenly developed a drivers side rear side window issue yesterday. On one touch closure it ascends and then halfway, the upper edge of the window adjacent to the B pillar runner suddenly starts moving away from the runner by about 1 plus cm. it then stops and returns to open position. If I close using intermittent touch I can work through it. Has anyone got any experience of this? Any advice gratefully received as it lost its 3 year warranty in June (typically!!). Many thanks

Macan side window not closing

Sounds like the door frame runner has become partially detached and is setting up slight resistance. The window, on auto-close, detects this and reopens. By keeping the button pressed, the resistance is overcome allowing the window to close as normal.
It's likely a holding clip has come loose and fallen into the door well. The door card may well need to be removed to recover or replace it.
Could be a DIY job if you care to take it on! [

Thanks Clive. It’s almost like the rear part of the window is sticking on closure so the front aspect deviates the whole window backwards. The increased resistance then makes it believe there’s something in the way so it returns to open. I‘m planning to give the felt etc a good clean and possibly squirt some wd40 down the rear aspect when the windows almost fully shut to see if any lubrication of the mech helps...Adam

I would recommend silicone lube rather than wd40. You don't want oily residue on your windows, and silicone is kinder to rubber.
