Macan S Diesel - Formation of Crystals on ends of Lambda Sensor Lead ?

Hi, I opened the bonnet to top up the screen-wash and noticed an unusual formation of a white crystallised formation the size of a golfball on each end of the electrical connectors of the rear exhaust manifold sensor ?

I phoned Porsche in Bournemouth who said it may be ad-blue leaking which has formed this ?
Has anyone else had this problem ?


 
Yes, it's quite common for there to be a leak around the injector. The adblue evaporates leaving salt residue behind.
The injector and supply hose should be replaced under warranty.

Hi Clive, thank you for your reply. I have never seen this before. The crystals have complete surrounded the electrical connectors at each end of the short lead. Does this cause any damage/corrosion to the lead or connectors ?
My Macan has only done 18k miles and is four years old, so it would seem it is an age related fault ?

Shouldn't cause any lasting damage to engine components.

If you have extended warranty, it will be dealt with FOC by your PC.

Fortunately I do have an extended warranty, so that's good. With the complexity of modern cars there is so much potential for something to go wrong as this proves.

I have owned it for 11 months and am very please with the way it drives on the very varied roads on the Isle of Wight. It puts a smile on your face when it accelerates so effortlessly up some of the steeper hills like the hill rising up from Freshwater Bay onto the Military Road.

The gearbox is impressive and is so well synchronised to the engine and always seems to be in the correct gear, something other manufacturers often don't seem to get right.
