Low oil pressure when idling

Garfield

New member
I'm getting a permanent green light (ie: not flickering) at about 1500 RPM ..... little bit concerned...

Any ideas ?

so anything upto 1500 rpm you get a green light - and above - it goes out?

Thats a high idle speed.

Post up some more info... i.e if you've done anywork, changed oil etc etc, odd sounds.

Has anyone seen Garfield's car?

Yes. I realise I had a high idle speed. It was serviced by JZ Machtech in June and they set it at this (I did actually complain because I know it should be about 800 RPM... they said bring it back in and they'd sort it out, but I haven't had time to do that) I've probably done about 1800 miles since the service.

The green light is new though...haven't actually done anything other than top up the oil (the oil tank leaks slightly).

Garfield has a pre-op 912... he is waiting to ship it to Casablanca for the necessary removal of his two extra pots [;)]

In the meantime he has to dress and act as a 12, hence the post here...

LOL - there must be a name for 11s that like to dress as 12s - transporker or the like

I could guess but that wouldn't be much help... dont know much about six potters, sorry.

Low oil pressure isnt normally a good thing.

Nick? Early911?

ohhh hang on... I must be slow today (well its Friday)
Garfield has a 911

thats easy to fix.... take it to AFN lol

ohh funny... no sympathy.. unfortunately I don't have a pressure gauge.. it's one of those early 911's that had those horrible cheap and nasty 912 gauges...

Okay folks...come on.. .low pressure at idle... any ideas ?

Well, the worst it can be is that you really do have low oil pressure. The best is a faulty sender. I suggest you borrow a guage of some kind and actually measure the pressure. If you can get the car down to me I'm sure I can rig something up.

Thanks Nick,

Unfortunately, I don't really want to risk a drive all the way to Sussex. I think I'll take it into JZ Machtech and get them to have a look. They're going to do some work on the suspension for me anyway !
