Hi All,
Its been a while since I sold the old S2 but am thinking that I want a cheapish car for the winter period and then to use as a car for a few track days when the weather improves next year. The 944 looks a good/fun option at current prices.
Some questions I have:
1. Is a budget of 2.5k-3k enough to secure a nice S2 in the current market with cash in hand? I have seen some nice ones sell privately and through Paul Stephens recently at 3.5k asking (possibly lower with an offer).
2. What would I need to pay for a decent turbo? Given I have had a S2 before a turbo would be a nice change.
3. Does anyone know of one for sale through the club within my budget?
My requirements:
1. Car will need to be parked outside on the street in London...so i actually dont want a concourse car...as it would pain me to see it out in the elements (note: this does not mean i am looking for a rusty shed however)
2. I want a car that has no rust...or very minimal corrosion at worst ( I dont want to be spending 1500 to sort both sills for example)
3. preferably sourced through this club or from a member who has looked after it as their P&J
4. All heating etc works or if car has aircond...prefer that it is working or if not....it actually only needs a regas
5. Car would be used during the week to pootle around London, maybe my missus will drive it every now and again, and as said....i wouldnt mind using it on a few trackdays to save my 964 from the abuse (though it will get out for a couple every year)
6. I am tall so the pre oval dash cars are out....I wont fit. I actually prefer the look of the turbo and S2.
7. I am based in London so preference is not to drive all around the country looking
8. Prefer a car thats had the belts and tensioners done recently and other oily bits like recent clutch, discs and pads etc. In the first 12-24mths I want to put petrol in it and drive it with an annual service at most....I dont want a resto project.
9. Extensive and complete service history
10. Seller who is open to an indie inspecting the car
I am currently on holidays so wouldnt be able to view any until mid to late Nov. By all means....send through details of cars though.
Appreciate your help guys...I know there are many rough cars out there so i am looking for help from this network to find me a few gooduns to check out.
This car looks pretty nice...anyone know this one?
