locked out

Hi all,

the other day i thought i would be a clever clogs and disconnect my battery to stop it running flat as it isnt my main road car. The car was locked and I shut the boot realising that I had left my mobile phone in the car and the key doesnt work on any of the doors. [:mad:] Does anybody have an idea what I can do? 968 sport L reg

I though the door locks could be opened with a key if the battery was off...I know the tailgate cant as its operated by a solenoid...
I seem to remember there is a wire / pull cable, behind the front pu somewhere that you can get into the engine bay.. From there you can connect power to a terminal in the engine bay, check your owners manual for locations....
 
remove the nearside indicator and spotlight and you should be able to see the cable, you might need a torch,

Thanks for the tips, my manual doesnt explain very well where i can power up under the bonnet......................i dont want to blow my electrics any pointers on what i should do?[8|] or where to connect, cheers.
 
pull out the DME relay,
locate pin 30 (it's permanently connected to the battery), plug +12V in to it, attach a negative to an earth point.

You dont need to pull any relays out..
If you look at the pic ive attatched, [ Yes its a S2 engine bay, but they are almost identical.] In the top LEFT hand corner, youl see the clutch reservior. The other side of the small bulkhead that the res is bolted to, is a black cannister with a vaccuum pipe attatched, just in front of this is a cable with a connection the +ve terminal to connect the jump leads etc to.. Remove the cover of the cable [there is a joint in the cable],,+ connect up. Making sure you make an earth connection on the engine block....
I had to do this when i locked the boot on my cabrio.. And theres no way of getting into the boot of a cab without power....[8|][8|][8|].
I hope you get sorted out..
PS i think the bonnet release cable is located on the passenger side behind the driving lamp....

Hi Guys,

Thanks for all your help, its encouraging to know you care.

I realized the cable would be on the passenger side as the pull lever is in the passenger foot well, so that made sense, but when i removed the driving lamp i cant see the bonnet release cable? There is a couple of earth wires i guess from the lamps to the chasis and thats it?

Is there any other way to get into the bonnet? a friend of mine said why dont i jack the car up and put power onto the starter motor but im not sure about that as the car is in gear? but obviously the ignition is off?

A, Will this power up the car?

B, will it engage the starter motor?

Hi Mark,
the cable will be there you may need to ferret around a bit, it could be above or below the actual spotlight pod, you cold try a torch and small inspection mirror to locate it.
 
Hi Guys,

A great BIG thanks to you and Big Dave...................i couldnt find the bonnet release behind the light, so took the under valance splitter off and there it was in all its glory clipped to the bottom of the rad?

Hey presto within a few mins i was under the bonnet and cabled it up just as Dave suggested car powered up and doors unlocked!!!!!

Hi Big Dave,

Its me again, great to get in the car thanks for that........................i am looking to replace my standard front discs, would like drilled or grooved for better appearance?

I think mine are 298x28mm vented any pointers on this and best place to buy from?

Its a 968 Sport 1994, has Koni front shocks if this helps?

There are many places to buy discs from, are you going to do any track days? Drilled discs may look
good but some don't think they last too well. I have drilled on both my cars but they do get a regular blow out with
compressed air to help stop them cracking. Anyway if you want to buy some try the usual suspect Eurocar parts always seem to come up with a good price as does Bert at Berlyn services.

Hi Mark.
Euro car parts are good + reasonably priced.. If you HAVE to have drilled then the Zimmerman ones are the ones, BUT the Sebro plain discs are far better + last longer.. They are Porsche discs after all...
Some arnt too keen on the Zimmerman discs....As ive heard they can warp sometimes...
I havnt tried Berlyn parts, but the 944 boys swear buy him....
