Can you help me please, I need advice. My car was involved in an accident in July last year, and is still not repaired.....Lloyds made a complete bish of the job, an under the arches quick spray etc, and it has taken until now to convince my insurance company of the problems with Lloyds, and for Ninemeister to carry out proper repairs which are now nearing completion.(An excellent job, Ninemeister are good people)
I feel that somewhere in the Porsche system there should be a means whereby my shocking experience can be demonstrated so that there might be a chance that no one else suffers the same fate. I realise that our club would probably not wish to become involved....what would you advise as an approach to Porsche GB....any one know any names of persons at PGB who might be interested?

Blimey, thanks for the information Michael. Ninemeister it will be for my door check strap (with the necesary welding/painting) when I get round to it.

As it was clearly serious enough for your insurance to re-do the job then I think the top man at PGB needs to hear about this and respond.

Sounds like they need de-approving.

Did Ringway accept that they messed up?
 
Another botch job by Lloyds - doesn't seem to matter whether its Liverpool or Ringway.

POrsche have a real dilema on their hands - they know that Lloyds barely make the grade (their words) but where else is there thats big enough or good enough to support the North West for crash damage. No offence to 9meister, their work is top notch, but they just couldn;t keep up with the volume :(
 
Try HB Panelcraft in Preston - they are the local Porsche Approved Bodyshop in the North / Central Lancashire area and I have seen the excellent work that they do. I had a car (none Porsche) repaired by them - 2 new dors after vandalism - and I could not fault the work. They seem to have plenty of Porsches in being repaired whenever I have been in and it's a very big outfit.
 
Dear Mark, No way did they accept at the time....It was also very difficult to get Norwich Union to accept that there was a problem because of Lloyds statements. Lloyds were very difficult in the background. I cannot go into detail because I would prefer to tell you over a pint .My car was with Lloyds for two and a half months for them to do just a quick paint job.It took me until March tghis year to get agreement that the car was still crook, and to get permission to have Mark at ninemeister to fix it. I am hoping to get it back in time to go down to Le Mans next week. The amount of work that ninemeister have done is staggering and very serious considering the car was returned to me by Lloyds supposedly fixed....the glass panels on the roof were even lying at an angle when it was delivered on their truck!!Then there was the steering out of line, and the rear suspension out of spec, and the body still out of line, and the engine supports bent, and the roof operating mechanism buggered......just a few odds and ends, nothing important really if you work under the arches eh?!! My car had a very serious impact on the nearside rear wheel when someone just drove into me across two carriageways. I had just filled the car ready to go to Le Mans classic last year. the car has been off the road ever since.
 
Go and see Marc Clowes at ninemeister in Warrington. A real enthusiast, totally honest,very capable workshop and equipment, very good staff. You need look no further, the job they have done on my car is brilliant. Go look for yourself.
 
Why are people still using companys like this ??? I sure hope you weren't ill advised Michael. I've not owned my car long and ever since day one I have always sort recommendations from reliable sources first, even prior to purchase. I sure hope this remains the case. Naturally mistakes are made, we are all human. I have seen first hand their standard of work... rust appearing where it wasn't before ... doors re-hung and misaligned ... the carrera badge replaced in the wrong place on the engine lid ...to name a few and all on the same car. After three attempts the car is still not right. I would be at my whits end!! Where and who trains these guys ??? where's their quality control?? why are they 'approved'????
Michael i sincerly hope the work is put right by a well respected company. Unfortunately i can't recommend anyone to you as i would only do so from my own experience or what i had seen first hand, but i'm sure you'll receive some good advise and options from this forum.

Real pleased you got it sorted and from what you say Marc Clawes at Ninemeister has done a top job. Great to hear that there are people out there that still take a pride in their craft. Whats more, they are on our doorstep. Great news.

I don't want to go into too much detail, but Lloyds have had my 997Turbo for an unbelievable 5 weeks over the past 6 months. This was all due to 'error' by the OPC. Each time it was ready - another defect had appeared. I was unable to take the car to Marc Clowes as it wasn't my 'call'. True enough tho', I think becoming an Official Repairer would compromise their standards.

I think a lot of these repair shops are happy if it looks the same colour and so are a lot of punters. Mine came from Porsche Glasgow and the paint work was shocking. I took mine to Ninemeister for a check over and quote as I got sick of arguing with the dealer, your right Ninemeister are really helpfull. My tip is have a really good look around your car before you buy or after work has been done.
 
I had an issue with wheel corrosion on a 1 year-old Boxster. OPC Chester sent the wheels to Lloyds Lverpool to be 'refurbished' which meant scraping off the paint blisters, touching in with a paint brush and then a quick spray with lacquer (not my definition of refurbishment by the way!) which peeled off a week later. A second 'go' wasn't much better, they painted ALL of the wheels this time but then damaged the still soft paint when the tyres were fitted.

In the end, the dealer took the wheels off a low-mileage demonstrator and put these on my car. I'm happy with this solution but why didn't I get new wheels? And who will get my old wheels?

It's only fair to say though that I had to have a wing repaired due to a garage door slamming onto my precious baby in a gust of wind. Lloyds did a good job with this apart from slight 'orange peeling' down near the sill, which is barely noticeable and a paint ridge just under the wheel arch, which the dealer put right for me. Oh and the wheel arch liner hadn't been fitted correctly. Crap really for a 50k car!

Just from this thread alone, it speaks volumes about the standard of work from Lloyds. Message being stay well clear. Worrying thing though, is if work is sent there via a dealer like in Critch's case. It's worrying that a main dealer would except this standard of workmanship. I hope your replacement wheels were upto scratch ! you should of insisted on new wheels matey. As long as you are happy.

My last 'proper job' was working as a motorcycle assessor for a variety of insurance companies and the problem that Lloyds have is that to become approved and in a position to be allocated the work from the insurance companies, they probably have to agree to work for a much lower hourly rate, they are given insufficient time to estimate accurately and they have to give a discount on parts used. You, as the policy holder, are not obliged to use the recomended repairer, but the carrot to do so is the use of a loan car. This is one of the reasons many repairers are not approved- they won't accept the conditions.
I have argued many times that this is not the most cost effective way to repair vehicles in the long run, but the short term gain always wins the arguement.
 
People always vote with their feet - I was at 9m the other week - guess where the owner of Chester OPC sends his car[8|][8|] - it aint Lloyds[:mad:]
