LeMans Classic 2014

Hi everyone, a few people asked about our trips to the last 2 LeMans Classic weekends held the first weekend in July every 2 years.

Campsite details below. This campsite devotes itself to the race weekend and runs a party night on the Friday evening before the race.
This is a very classy affair. Starting off with the top cars on the campsite being selected for a motor show on the front lawn of the Chateau.
A Marquee serves champagne and h'orderves to everyone. You must all be dressed in all white of course. Contestants introduce their carsThe Chateau serves high quality food in its Restaurant on each and every night. Fresh bread is delivered by the local baker each morning.
All the facilities are excellent and kept beautifully clean. A small supermarket is on site for essential supplies.
and votes are cast. Dominique officiates and counts the votes.

On the Sunday after the race amore casual night ensues for BBQ garden drinks in casual clothes to say goodbye to everyone.



Dominique has a mobile English Mechanic on site all weekend just in case you may have a problem.

The site is about 8 miles from the circuit which is easily reached. without traffic worries.
Porsches can be parked within the Circuit via PC France.
Or you can reserve secure parking at any of the coloured coded sites around the outside of the circuit.
Rouge is best and the most easily reached from the site.

It Looks like a general ticket for the weekend is 53 Euro, 30 Euro extra for grandstands opposite the pits.

Thanks for the info, sounds fantastic!
Assuming it's camping do you usually take your own canvas or is it already erected?

We are doing the 24 heures this year but may do the classic next time.

Believe it or not we squeeze everything including a stove and gas into the Boxster and don't even need the boot rack like we did with the S2000. The campsite has everything though you don't need anything. He now offers glamping as well.
The cars at the campsite alone is an amazing site. It's as good as any car show. You should see our pictures.

If you are doing the 24, pop by this place to take a look you will really see the difference to what the camping is like at the circuit.
A very different experience. People we meet that do both events say the atmosphere is quite different at the circuit between the 2 events.
The classic has less of a 'Glastonbury' feel to it and a much calmer and more mature feel to it. The 24 being more frenetic and lively.

I'd love to do the 24 but doubt the wife would enjoy it.
It might have to be a lads weekend next year when even more manufacturers join in. Rumour is Ferrari might return???

Also worth a look is Lycian Events (PCGB members Stephen and Joy Fowell) who are doing the Classic as well as the 24 hour this year. Their site on Porsche Curves is superb.
