leaky oil pipes

It looks like the monkies who owned or played with this car last, bodged some kind of coupler on to the oil feed pipes, as the pics will show, the joint has a hole in it and they didnt even make the copper pipe flush when they fitted it, so the pipe joint doesnt even fit flush in the coupler, also take a look at the exhaust box, looks like some dimwit has drilled a hole in the end to make it sound louder, unless its meant to be there, i need some advice on a decent repair suggestion on the oil pipes, cheers all.

Hi, I had a similar bodged job on my oil lines when I bought my SC, I stripped the lot out and fitted the proper parts, if these joints fail and it dumps the oil you can say goodbye to your engine, its not worth it.

I got mine from Porshapart, not that expensive really and easy enough if you like weilding a spanner on a weekend, don't try cheap fixes with the oil lines its not worth it [;)]

Good luck

New pipe, would be the safe bet I replaced both pipes, at the same time
as well .The thermostat can be dodgy, as well the threads come off with the pipes etc, my one did anyway I had to get another one.

Then the brand new pipe, itself the fitting rubber end broke off leaving a nice big oil stripe down the road and a oil patch. I shut the engine off, and towed the car back home .The engine seems ok, will test it at the weekend.
I have been working away, for the last few weeks so it had to wait to be fixed, and check the car engine is fine. At a guess I lost about 8 lts of oil.

The company (D 911 ) I got it from, were not very helpful, over the phone either saying I fitted it wrong, but you cannot make a mistake as the pipe bolts, to the thermostat and then to the engine pipe that is it.
They sent me another replacement pipe, I will be not be going there to buy items again customer care not!.

Before you start trying to remove the oil pipe from the thermostat (can cause you serious grief) read the info on Pelican Parts website. There are other threads too.
