Le Mans 2013

Anyone interested in going to this year's Le Mans?
Date is June 22 and 23rd

After talking to Robin Howard on Sunday I contacted Justtickets to get some prices.
Robin recommended the Expo camp site as its close to the entrance and good facilities.
Prices are £82 for the camping space FOR THE WEEK!
£75 each general admission
£10 booking fee and special delivery.
The cost of Eurotunnel for a five day return is £94 per car for that week.

The guy, Paul, at Justtickets also said that although the campsite is unreserved in terms of spaces, if one member of a group goes first they are able to keep spaces for friends.

Colin, have you looked at the Lycian Events website - it's a PCGB member (Stephen Fowell) that owns and runs Lycian, we went to Le Mans with them 18 months ago (first timers) and their campsite was fantastic.

I'm booked for this year, Lycians' site is a super site, both safe for you and your car.... howver quite a bit more expensive than what you've been quoted - but for a reason.

Our region is using Lycian Events for Le Mans 2013 as per previous years. We (our region) will have the biggest club presence.

Another vote for Lycian - it was my first Le Mans trip last year and I will definitely use them again.

I've been thinking the same thing. I love the Classic but I think I have to try the regular 24hrs at least once. I can't do a whole week but a weekend may be on the cards.

The Travel Destinations (with whom we went to the Classic) price is £390 and I know people that have praised their campsite. Any idea what the Lycian price is?

Will you be at the Novello next month to discuss?

Around £335 (Tunnel/Entrance/Campsite pitch) with option extras if you need grandstand tickets, pitwalk or meals.

I've gone all DIY this year on a friends recommendation. So staying with white rabbit racing £160.00 each for the week in the grounds of a private house, GT3 safe []. le shuttle was £94.00 return (£47 each) leaving Thursday morning and then entry ticket 71 euros, with petrol, refreshments etc on top.

it's been a few years since the last trip with PCGB, so really looking forward to the race and as always the trip down

There is a good review of campsites on the Beermountain website, although it doesn't include all, like the TravelDestinations site at Tetra Rouge we stayed at last year for the classic.

As most members are aware I run the Village on the Curves Campsite, the Tetra Rouge site is not operated by Travel Destinations for the 24 Hours but by Team Langoustine who I understand are now full they run another site which is on Porsche Curves Exterior.

[FONT=Arial"]Colin, we've chatted already, but pencil my interest in going. All I can add is Robin is a hard core Le Mans supporter with valuable advice on sites / price and security. I must admit the large sites lack washroom facilities - the classic last year was pure luxury.

Rather than end up with too many options I suggest we choose from three (sort of) known quantities:

Travel Destinations because we know from a couple of years at the Classic that they run a good campsite.

Lycian because most PCGBers use them and reports are good.

Or the Expo site with entrance fee and Eurotunel booked separately because it's a fair bit cheaper and Robin's a real old hand at Le Mans and if he says its good then it will be.

I don't have any strong views either way to be honest but saving a few quid is always good. If we decide what we are doing we can then throw it open to R19 as a whole.

Just to add to the confusion, Seven Fowell rang me tonight and we have arranged for Steven to come to our regional meeting in February. Steven, as you may remember, was villified, quite incorrectly for appearing to offer a better deal for Le mans than other leading travel organisers, having done the deal and negotiated a differrent camp site. It may be worth hearing what he has to say before making your collective minds up. Steven will be bringing his lap top along and with the cooperation of the Landlord at the Novello may be able to do some A/V utilising the large screen television.

I will be attending the next meeting and I own *********** so although I can talk about my own site, I am more than pleased to discuss other sites and provide as much information as I can hopefully impartially particularily about those that are not organised although one must appreciate that the best non-private sites are already booked up although tickets will come availble nearer the event.

In the meantime if you would like any information Joy or I have many years of Le Mans behind us both as spectators and running a site will be more than pleased answer any questions particularily as we are both PCGB members although must make it clear that this is not a club site or linked to the club in any way.

Also we have a PCGB Le Mans interest Group which gives views and keeps you upto date with Le Mans.

We had a very good presentation from Stephen Fowell of Lycian Events yesterday's regional meeting at The Novello.

The facilities his company offers are impressive: secure site at Porsche Curves, more than adequate toilet and washroom facilities, free bus to the circuit or the tram station, 50" TV, bar at £3.50 a pint, Bistro and BBQ on Saturday with entertainment, pre-erected tents available. Thursday - Monday availability.

The 2 person, Eurotunnel package is £355 ( Travel Destinations is £390 I believe)

Compared with the Travel Destinations Tetra Rouge site we went to last year for The Classic the Lycian site looks much better although slightly further from the main Grandstand.
Although TD also do Porsche Curves.

There are other options Expo, white rabbit racing, etc.


I notice quite a few people have stated that they quite fancy going to the real Le Mans this year so ...

Please respond asap that you are seriously interested and if you are still looking for a package.

Indicate asap whether you are interested in going to the Lycian Events site so we can book as a group, this may the get us a discount.

I'm seriously interested and will go with Lycian. The only unknown is whether to go 2up in the Porsche or 3 or 4up in another vehicle to save money. Lycian gave me a verbal quote of £270 per person for the package you mention if four people travel in a single car. This is a big saving, seems almost too big somehow so I will check.
