KW v.3 worn bushes........

Took my S.2 in for M.O.T at RPM last week - passed after replacing broken drop link, and also asked them to investigate a slight knocking and vibration/resonance from the rear.

Diagnosed as split in the de-cat pipe and worn rear suspension bushes. I haven't seen any mention of wear on KW bushes although Ollie at RPM did say they'd had to replace the ones on their S.2 track car.

Given I haven't done a single track day and only 8k miles since they were fitted about 3 years ago, I'd be interested to hear if anyone else with KW's has had similar experience.

Similar -ish. Bushes worn on the rear, and front right damper could do with revalving. On the one hand, they're 5 years old, on the other it is on a 924S, so a pretty light car.

Just out of interest - top or bottom bushes?

Re-valving after 5 years on a track car is probably not that bad - I don't think the slightly reduced weight of a 924S makes all that much difference..

Welcome back Sean!

On the one hand, they're 5 years old,

what sort of miles, and type of roads? 50k miles in Ireland used to shake a Cortina to bits, 50k miles on the M4 and they still drove like new

I was under the impression KW's are pretty much the quality benchmark (short of a Tuthill safari Rally spec setup).

To edh: In my case, top, and I suppose I agree. Fitting the V3s was still over all the best mod on the car, even compared to the 3.0 engine swap, which was probably the second best.

To 944 man: Hi! Yep it's been a few months wit the car "resting at Promax": Needed new flywheel sensor, caliper plate lift fixing, fixes to please recalcitrant MOT officials..and an 85 Mile daily commute, which meant I had to get a diesel, as running the 924S every day was costing some, especially whenever the M4 decides to move at 3 Mph..

To George Elliot: Mine's was mostly commuting, and I suppose about one track day a month "in season". I find the KW's quality is not bad, though not as good as the Nitrons I had on my old TVR. For example whilst the stainless steel/yellow/purple colour scheme of the KW coil-overs is very pretty, using a little hex screw to "fix" the purple spring platform in place against the strut is a real comedy item. If you actually change ride height more than twice, the little screw chews up the purple plastic, and then you're relying on dirt-friction to maintain accurate ride-height. Nice.

Sean,
that sort of grub screw technology is vile, why not a locking ring below the platform? for safety sake too.
I would not be an admirer of the bling KW colour scheme, a nice coat of Bilstein Green with black springs and spring rate colour code spots every time[8D]
thanks
George
