Kerbed Wheels

Andrew Smith

New member
Hi All,

Having recently been forced off the road by a Police Motor Cycle outrider I have managed to kerb one of my rear wheels (18" Sport Design) have any other members had any luck with repairs to these wheels or is it a replacement []

P.S. Thanks for the long awaited forum

Regards to all

I clipped an 18" Turbo wheel whilst taking a ' fast line' through a corner...
AFN Reading have a refurbished wheel for me supplied, fitted etc for £100. I haven' t seen the new wheel yet but am assured they look absolutley new. I imagine any OPC will get you one.

It all depends on the degree of damage.

I' ve been told by my OPC that a wheel can be refurbished quite easily/cheaply if the damage isn' t too bad. It can be repaired through an OPC or through a wheel specialist.

I damaged one of mine on my 2nd day of ownership but decided not to get it repaired as (i) its not too noticeable and (ii) its going to happen again.

Had one of my turbo look wheels refurbished after I let a mate of mine kerbed it[], repair was perfect. I have now done the other side though... the same week someone opened their door into my back wing [:(]

Yes I' ve had both back wheels damaged and repaired by a local specialist (Sport Classic II). They repair wheels for most local dealers including Porsche.

And very depressing too. Our Council have embedded little strips of kerbing on the apex of virtually every corner on our local ' B' roads, and I managed to vandalise an Exige and then my Turbo about a month ago - both while trying to avoid oncoming middle-of-the-road optimists.

Turbo quite bad, right round the edge of the n/s rear wheel, but OPC promises an effective repair. I will come back with result and cost soon. Meanwhile prayer!

Excellent to have a forum - thanks to all involved.

Re my last post, for anyone who is worried - repair a complete success, and very reasonable at £104 considering the depth of the scraped area.
