Jurby Festival - a great day out

We were invited to Jurby Festival again this year. This is an event organised by the Vintage Motorcycle Club. From humble beginnings, the event has grown to be one of the largest single day attractions in the Isle of Man.

With parade laps featuring bikes from every era of motorcycling history there is loads to see for everyone. There were a whole galaxy of stars from the road racing world there, including former World Champions Giacomo Agostini, Steve Baker and Freddie Spencer, taking to the track alongside TT heroes John McGuinness, Conor Cummins and Michael Dunlop.

The car clubs are also invited. Our club had only a few cars in attendance due to holidays and car maintenance work that was going on [sm=spanner1.gif], but we made the most of the fantastic weather and great atmosphere.
A variety of cars and bikes were there, including a Lancia Stratos and a Ferrari 308. We still get a bit of entertainment with the 911's when we open the front boot lid and people hover round looking for the engine. Ian's Boxter really has them confused when they can't see one at either end!
Some photos follow just to give you a bit of the atmosphere:

The TT stars were out and signing autographs. John McGuinness has it down to a fine art.

Conor Cummins from the back. This is one brave guy (and tall), check out his accident during TT 2010 on youtube.

This bike did an average speed of 188.73mph over two runs at Bonneville Salt Flats in 2012, beating the previous record from 1973 for a 500cc bike:

Ferrari 308, nice.

Here's a distant relative of the Ferrari, just for Geoff Ives.

Hopefully we will be there next year too and would love to see other members and their cars. Ian and Shelagh couldn't stop with us all day but left their car. They were quite happy for us to look after it for them.... No, I can't really believe it either! [;)] Thanks to Julian for organising for us to be part of this great day out.
