I'm looking to purchase a 2004 V6 cayenne as my daily driver and have been a little concerned by the number of poor reports on the cayenne on this forum, I've driven a couple over the last few weeks and got to say how impressed I've been.

My wife loves the looks and the styling and I must admit I like the presence it gives on the road. Should I be looking at something else or is the cayenne really as good as I have heard elsewhere?

The second hand option looks like a good market at present as your getting a lot of motor for your money with all the gadgets and luxuries thrown in, also if it's been well looked after, hopefully, most of the teathing problems surely should have been sorted.

I really would appreciate your opinions.

Just for your info I've been a huge fan of Porsche since I was knee high to a grasshopper and its got to have the porsche badge on the front to match my pride and joy, an '84 Carrera sat on the drive

Thanks

oh dear ! ..

i own a V8 S from new .. have you not read my reviews ? .. and those of others ? ..
get the message, THE CAYENNE IS RUBBISH, LOOK ELSEWHERE FOR TROUBLE FREE MOTORING .. ALL THAT GLITTERS IS NOT GOLD.

Mr.P

I loved my old V6, great car, had her 3 years from new and 40K of pretty trouble free motoring .. The rear washer jet blocked twice

For every bad story there are 100 untold good stories, forums exist for airing of the probelms... few write and mention today it started, drove to B without a hitch, Started and drove home without a hitch

i dont think presenting mis-leading data is appropriate in this forum ..

i challenge you to find 100, independent and unique [different owners] good stories ! .. and then publish them ! ..

To be honest I dont think I am presenting miss leading data.. however I also do not really wish to hijack this thread, so this will be my only reply "off topic"

We all know you got and still have a lemon and we are all sorry you have, however I didn't and I and (I personally believe) many other Cayenne owners both on and off this forum drive (in my case drove until a few weeks ago) their Cayennes on a daily basis.. I drove mine every day for over 3 years during on which I had the rear nozzle block twice and a head lamp washer freeze and "fall apart" .. 40K miles of what I would describe as trouble free motoring in my car.. Yes I know your story is different, I never said it was or question your reports or your own hatred about your car

I'll pass on your challenge .. and will quietly continue to wonder why you never sold it and "got rid of your problem"

However I do stand by the content of my post .. I had a trouble free car and still consider Forums (in general) are (in general) filled with the horror stories of the few (which do exist) and rarely of the stories of (I believe) the majority (that also I beleive do exist) of trouble free days

Anyways .. I am no longer a Cayenne owner, so to be honest .. dont care one way or other so I blows raspberries at you [:D]

Tomorrow I'll have to choose to drive the RS6 .. or the Boxster S .. or the Brabus Smart (if I wish to be silly) [:-]

PS come over to the Audi Forums and join a RS6 debate .. Apperently they all fall apart and the suspension falls to bits every day [;)]

I also have a 2004 V6,had it from 6 months old ,a few niggles but overall a great car, used and abused eveyday never let me dowm 50k onclock.Would I have another one, yes.

My, my, my, I didn't realise I was going to cause so much trouble with my very first post. I wasn't my intention. Mr P it does sound like you bought a pup and I can't believe you're still suffering it. I hope you resolve your issues soon.

Went to Porscheshop today for a few bits for the carrera, and had a very interesting chat, funnily enough with virtually the same comments as you gdavison "forums exist for airing of the probelms... ".

So on good advice, and a lot of searching I will find a good one. Wish me luck.......... I'll post back on here when I have it.

[:D]I guess as the former RS - my opinion is a little bias ....... anyway ...... My V6 was great ..... over 50K miles in two years, trouble free motoring.
I'd buy another one tomorrow if I was in the market for a 4X4.

Go for it. They are great vehicles, strong, well built and at the moment there are some excellent value for money second hand ones to be had. Have fun!

Know about 6 people with one, all types of models. Hardly any issues....

Apart from fuel costs in the Turbo S!!

Another plus here. Total now of over 100k miles in two KN S's, no problems, touch wood. These are great pieces of kit and agree MrP has had a dreadful experience, but with a dealer warranty and history you should be OK with a good secondhand car.

Go for it!
Bought new V8S in Sept' 07 and have loved every minute of driving it.
Completed a 850 mile round trip in a day and still felt quite refreshed afterwards.
Suggest you buy from OPC then at least you shouldn't have any warrenty issues.
