Jager LED Dash Light- Problems

Hello People !

Has anyone with the Jager LED dash kit had any issues ?

Mine have now completely failed and I have just removed the binnacle from the car, one of the LED's appears to work and the rest are dead. I've completely stripped the dead prism's and removed the LED's, I then tested them by attaching a 9v battery to each of the dead ones, one worked for a second or so then stopped with a burning smell and the other didn't work at all.

The working LED lights up fine from the 9v.... guess I'm going on the hunt around Maplins tomorrow for some replacement LED's....

I've just fitted some led replacement bulbs, just as good without the soldering :)...and much cheaper from Aceparts

You can buy LEDs in T10 wedge shape that fit straight into the original holders. £8 for four and no soldering needed [:)]

I'm surprised that the LEDs have burned out. If they're not over loaded they should last many thousands of hours. They were rated to 12V weren't they?

Well I worked out what is going on....

The replacement wedges that the LEDs sit in require the LEDs legs to be bent at 45 degrees, what appears to have happened with mine is that the LEDs were pressed up against the casing of the instrument panel causing the legs to fracture over time...

I've ordered some replacement LEDs pre-wired for 12v from the famous auction site for a couple of quid :)

Will let you know how I get on.

Cheers

You can always solder them to the circuit board

I had all kinds of problems with my Jagar Kit. All three failed, put in new LED's and all three failed in quick succession.

I ended up replacing the resistors and all is fine now. I also took the opportunity to change the colours as I didn't like the ones I had ordered in the first place! [:D]

Resurrecting a dead thread again... does anyone else have a "blue" kit fitted? Do they also find the high beam light now appears yellow rather than blue? I can figure about why (wave length of light, incandescent bulb, blah, blah), and can live with it... I think...

We do LED kits and because the blue one sends out pure blue light, the main beam bulb looks yellow because it puts out an impure light (some blue, but also other colours in the spectrum) and the blue backlighting highlights how impure the light is.

We also do white, orange, yellow, green, red and any other colour, I prefer white (original) or orange lighting (goes with the other dash lighting)

Our one is also bloody expensive before anyone asks, embarrassingly so, but it does dim with the standard dimmer, leaves no bare wiring exposed, replaces the standard light tubes, connects with a bulb holder fitting and involves no soldering. Pete (ExSkyline has one fitted).. But it is so expensive I never bother advertising it! :ROFLMAO:

I removed the silvering off the prisms and recovered it in tin foil masking taped down.

I then used long LED multidirectional bulbs and they're dimmable. Total cost about £4!
