1992 Series 2 944 Cabriolet.
Starts when cold, but won't restart when hot.
Changed fuel check valve and the DME,
I am going to remove the crankshaft sensor this weekend any other options for the cause of the fault gratefully received
Cheers

PD
i would approach the fault methodically, and removal of those sensors would be way down the list.

I have actually known the battery of the car to be the problem with those symptoms.

Take a look on Clarkes Garage (Hall sensor test routine is there), ask a few specialists, wait for the folk here to reply, give the sensors 48 Hrs.....:)

good luck

I'm told ignition coils close to failure can also display this trait although I would expect some rough running/cutting out when hot along with the failure to start. I haven't experienced this gradual failure personally - to quote Top Gear " It was running and then it stopped". I have seen a coil blow its top once - a Triumph GT6 where the owner was using the On position to run his radio while parked - apparently there was no Acc position on his ignition...

Is the exhaust a little sooty? If so, probably temp sensor. As a first guess, could be DME relay, they break down when warm sometimes and as George says crank sensors would be way down the list to test.

It might help at some point, to know that S2 doesnt stand for series two. All S2s are series two cars, but so are all 944s built from September 1985 (ie 1986 model year onwards).

The S is S2 stands for Super. The original S wasnt as super as they had hoped, so they tried again with the Super 2. [:D]
