Hello again all,
This is the second of four threads from me tonight so many apologies for the blitz but I won't have time to get any of these out there after tonight. Thanks in advance for your patience & for sharing your wisdom.
Is the fixing method of the smaller of the two rear diffuser pieces on my S2 to the lower rear quarter the standard way? (I mean the bit to the left of the exhaust if you look at the car from the rear)
The piece is attached with the aid of plastic spacers like so:
I hope those pictures make sense!
The smaller piece of the diffuser is therefore not sitting flush to the bodywork and there is a gap - hence the spacers.
Now, I know the inner foam bits are supposed to be black - the previous owner had the diffuser resprayed and asked to have those bits made white & that's not a problem for me.
I'm just wondering whether that smaller diffuser part has been re-fitted correctly. The opposite (larger) part sits flush to the bodywork & therefore there's no spacers.
If this is the standard fixing method - why did Porsche do it this way?
It looks horrible and it's as unsightly to me as my liking of the luggage cover with the Porsche crest on it was to some forum members recently![
]
It's made even uglier by the fact that the spacers are now discoloured and also stained by the rusting screws running through them.
Is there any way to change this if it is standard?
Are new spacers & screws still available to at least make them less noticeable against white paint?
If this isn't the correct fixing then what's going on here?
Can I whip the bumper off and move the spacers behind the bumper to hide them & get a flush fit?
The piece seems to be screwed into the correct points on the underside next to the exhaust tailpipe.
The rear quarter area here on my S2 has been subject to major rust removal a couple of years ago and an invoice states a new piece of metal was fabricated, if that's of any use to help understanding this fixing.
Thanks guys.
