Hi, Guys I'll start the ball rolling, so to speak;
I think it's wonderful that the little 911, 2.7 has finally got its own area on the forum. I can still remember the excitement of purchasing my car and then find out there was no area on the forum to shout about it.
I have owned (and loved) a 924S before my 911 adventure and had always enjoyed the exchange of ideas and banter generated on the 924 area. I think this is a great opportunity for us to do the same but on the 2.7, 911.
A little about me, I'm a 38 year old teacher (Head of Design and Technology) and father of two with a very understanding wife, who on occasion allows me to indulge in my passion. I have now owned two of Stuttgart's finest, and have always loved and admired Porsche's from a young age (as do my two young sons do now). After some years of owning my 924 I decided to finally make the plunge and get a 911. I looked for quite some time, and to be honest I didn't really want a 2.7, I really fancied a SC, I had read bad press about the 2.7 not being reliable and the engine has problems with heads warping and other horror stories. So it was with some reluctance that I went to have a look at a 2.7. However compared to all the other 911's I'd been to see it was worth the asking price.
I remember striking the deal and driving away, with my father in the passenger seat saying "he really didn't see what I saw in this over priced beetle away".
I have owned "Old Red" for 4 years now, and she isn't perfect, with lots of jobs completed and many more to come, but it's a real love affair, there are days when we fall out and other days when all is well with the world. Sunny days driving home windows down listening to the engine watching peoples faces as you pass them, its great a feeling and one I hope to can pass on to my children, a connection which you just don't get from other cars.
Now over to you
