Intermittent indicator fault

Hi

I own a 1992 944 cab which I store over the winter. It appears to have developed an indicator fault whilst in storage. Sometimes they work sometimes they do not. When they do work they seem lazy and slow. The battery is new.

What could be causing this?

Thanks in advance

Hammad.

If it is both indicators then I would guess it's the indicator relay. It is listed in the chart stuck to the underside of the fusebox cover in the engine bay and the relay itself has something amusing like 'blinkentrocken' stamped on it. I had a new one from Porsche a few years ago around £20

(It's too cold to go out to the garage to look at mine :ROFLMAO: )

Thanks Paul. I fiddled with the relay a bit but that has not made any difference. I will enquire about the cost of a replacement.

Just an additional thought, but my Lux used to do this after standing for a couple of weeks. It was the contacts on the indicator stalk itself, and a replacement was fitted from another car. The relay is the cheap, obvious option to try first, though.

Try spraying some WD40 or similar into the indicator stalk behind the column shroud, my S2 had this problem with the indocators and wipers and after a liberal dosing and moving the stalk around it seemed to clear itself and the stalks moved much more freely, put a lot of cloths under the column though as it makes a mess and take the bottom column shorud off for better access and so it doesn't fill up with WD40.

Gents

Just to let you know that I replaced the indicator relay and that has fixed the fault.

Thanks again for your help.

My S2 does this on occasion and it is caused by moisture making its way into the lenses and corroding the contacts. The seals are not quite as fresh as they could be.
