Interior re trim : Update & request for help with dash trim

Got the passenger side door fully finished. It looks fantastic. The passenger side front door bin isn' t bad either so I' ve put that back on.

Working on the driver' s side now and hopefully will get this finished today. Still looking for a driver' s side front door bin 8(.

Finally, I' m still having difficulty removing the chrome trim from the middle of the front of the dash. The trim has come off fine by the glovebox and on the driver' s side near the light switches etc but I can' t get it off by the heater controls. Do I need to remove the heater and if so, where are the damned fixing bolts. There is a bolt at the back but it appears to be attached from the front somewhere !! Any help gratefully appreciated.

p.s Gavin, thanks for the tickets. Rockingham was brilliant. There was a good turn out on the Saturday. Had a long chat with Robin Walker about the car and showed him my latest work on the trim. I noticed you live in E1 too. I' ll have to take you for a beer sometime as a thank you !!

Beer? Did someone mention Beer? We could have a bit of an East End Register going here... Chickybok works near too...
Where are you Garfield?

Yeah.... I' m up for a beer. I work just behind ' Browns' In shoreditch... The well known landmark!

I have removed the trim from my 70 911E recently, I would guess they are similar. It is held on with self adhesive strips and is very difficult to prise off. It fits around the heater controls so they dont have to come out.

Thanks Gavin... I did get your email - Small world.
Yeah - Browns really isn' t my thing either.... Its just that everyone can locate my place of work which is next to a strip joint!!![8D]

Thanks.. I live in commercial street and work in the city. Don' t hang out in Browns either ...

Managed to sort out the heater and car is now nearly fully retrimmed...booked a service at JZ Machtech and headed out for a spin last night ... Got as far as the car wash on Curtain Rd... car washed and then ... nothing ..... called the RAC and car is now en route to King' s Langley on the back of a transporter ...

Great ... bloody great !!

Hey Garfield > yours isn' t that early burgundy 911 i keep seeing around Hoxton?

Also - Re Breakdown - Its becasue you made the comment on the other post regarding ' real' porsches..... Thats why it broke down!!! LOL (he he)

No mine is a silver 911 T.

Saw a yellow 911 S on commercial street as I was walking back from meeting the RAC man. Anyone own up to this ?

You may see me pushing my daughter to school everyday past Spitalfields...
Small world...
Fancy a beer one Friday? I am away this Friday and next but after that?

Once or twice my car has been dead... nothing... but putting it in gear and pushing it 2m worked twice for me.
My suspicion was the starter/solenoid wasn' t connecting for some reason, or just some Porsche gremlins... however saved me from the RAC twice. One of those inexplicable old car things...
Thats why I ' keep the faith'

This is definitely a distributor problem. I think the guy at the car wash was just a bit too eager with his jet wash. I suspect the points just need resetting but as the car needed a service anyway I thought why not call the RAC ...
