Insurance renewal - any recommendations?

My previously friendly insurance company (Liverpool & Victoria) have decided that as I now own a new Porsche 911, I clearly have too much money, and therefore assume I will be happy to donate some of this excess to them in the form of a huge increase in premium for my renewal at the end of the month.

- Has anyone had any experience recently getting a quote and could recommend a particular company.
- What are PCGB recomended (discounted?) insurers ?
- Does anyone have an insurance policy that provides a like-for-like replacement in the event of a crash, while your car is being repaired (rather than the usual 1.2 Corsa LS ??!!

Had exactly the same issue ie they virtually doubled the premium . The best deal I got was with Admiral who insured both my new C2s and wifes Golf GTI for £1250.
 
Be careful with Admiral - lot's of info on the forum about them.

They do not cover any options (not even factory fitted), but you must declare them or you are uninsured.
They will charge you for the options (as they make the car more attractive to steal), but will only cover for replacement with a base-model (so you lose whatever value your options cost).

They even charge extra for alloy wheels - even though you can't get a new Porsche on steel wheels!

Be very careful what you are being covered for....
 
Try Peart Associates on 0870 2402972 - they advertise in Porsche Post and I've used them for years. They are usually competitive and understand the high performance car market IMO.
Not had to make a claim, though. Touch wood.

I'm using A. Manning, who gave competitive quote last April with lowest excess for track days.
Remember that all car insurance companies are directly related to Dick Turpin.[:D]
 
As I recently said on another thread I picked up a reference to A-Plan insurance brokers (01635 874646). They gave me the best quote underwritten by Royal Sun Alliance, invoice value (£78k) like for like replacement for first 12 months. Cost circa £1,100, £800 excess, 3 yr NCB, 3 points, 9000 miles pa. If anyone thinks I could have done better let me know, I still have a few days before my car arrives so I guess it's not too late to change.

Adrian Flux have come up with the best quote so far for me (997 Turbo) at £650. Endsleigh gave me £790 and Manning were around £1.040, but with Europe and decent track day cover. Still awaiting quote from Aon.

A.Manning cheapest for me on my ring round today (£100 less than A-Plan) - good scheme but wish i wasn't paying for trackday cover that i definitely won;t be making use of.
 
My 997S was insured with Privlidge, however the quote for the Turbo was three-fold. A Manning looks favourite at the moment!

Interesting comment on Privilege - they quoted me 3 times what I pay for C2S for change to 997 Turbo as well. A few of the brokers listed in Porsche Post are coming up with better prices - Mayfair looks best so far. C2S just sold today so feeling sad see it go, but only a few weeks to wait for Turbo [:)]
 
Try Peformance Marques. They give away free PCGB membership to new clients, so they may discount the fee if you are already a member?
 
Only managed to call one company yesterday (Adrian flux) as I was busy, all the rest closed at 5pm or 5.30pm.

Adrian Flux managed to cut almots £1k off my renewal price, and their cover is comprehensive including all factory fitted options etc. To be honest I doubt anyone else will beat that price, but I will make some phone calls today to make sure!

Its a complete lottery isn't it.

Adrian Flux were £500 more expensive than Direct Line for me !
 
A-Plan Insurance have come in a further £60 cheaper, so I just need to check the small print for these two quotes and then decide.

Aon have at last come up with a quote of 894.51 (took 3 days)which includes 45 days green card cover and 5 free track days (albeit with a £10,000 excess).
Adrian Flux is the cheapest for me too but I haven't yet confirmed that they will allow a Porsche Approved repairer - some companies insist on their own repairers, so it would be worth checking this out before proceeding.

Eventually think I will use Porsche Insurance who have quoted £872 for me & my husband with a tally of 12 speeding points between us (I'm the good girl with only the 3pts), Porsche approved repairers, 2 track days covered, the lowest excess at £350, factory fitted extras covered etc. The only thing they wouldn't do is give me protected 'no claims discount' because of my husbands speeders. I can't get a quote cheaper or better then that!! Most have been £100-£200 more expensive with less perks.

Sound v.good. Porsche insurance quoted me £1400 but I would like the comfort of knowing options and use of approved repairer would not be disputed. I'll try them next year when, hopefully, I should have another year's NCB and my 3 points will no longer be a factor.
