Hi all.
I'm venturing back into the Porsche domain after a few years absence and have put a deposit on a 2002 996 3.6 and will almost probably purchase on Saturday if as is as good as it looks.
Just wondering who many are insured with. I have had a quote around the £800 mark and am just getting a call back tomorrow to confirm but these are the first that I've had quote.
Doesn't seem to bad as my daily is around £500 and it's a 15 year old ML.
Any suggestions of who to call would be appreciated.
I did search for "Insurance" in the search box to no avail.

I went with Lockton. Got a valuation from the club and they agreed that as the value. Think it was under £400.

Welcome back to the wonderful world of Porsche ownership.
£800 sounds expensive.
I’m fortunate to have a 2002 996 C2 3.6, a 944 S2 and a 2005 Boxster S insured by Chubb through the PCGB scheme with Lockton Performance at a total cost a little over £1000 which for the breadth of cover and the area I live in is good.
It’s worth giving Lockton a call.
Whoever you decide to insure with make sure before you sign up that everything you require is covered otherwise you may find that add ons such as track day cover, UK & European breakdown cover add up.

I would agree with others who have who have recommended Lockton - don't forget to mention the club as it's a policy specifically designed for club members. The policy is first class, but I heard from others that it's not designed for daily drivers. I have a limited mileage policy and I've never found anyone to match the price.

My insurance fully comp with a limited 5000 miles is with Classic Line Insurance and cost £280 October 2018. This is with agreed club valuation. I had been with LV but they wouldn't continue it when I advised them of more than 2 modifications, which was their maximum acceptable.

I believe that Lockton now have a scheme for cars driven daily.

Our cars are special, often have some modifications and require special insurance. Policies for the average family car are seldom adequate.

I am near to Classic line and will give them a call tomorrow and also try Lockton. I think I'll also ask my current DD driver as well, can't hurt.
It didn't include track days and only 30 days European Cover and wasn't a classic policy. I have an SP30 and the car wasn't to be garaged only on the drive.
I did want occasional business use and they are getting back to me tomorrow but I'm looking at the car Saturday and wouldn't need cover until the end of the month.
It was with apparently specialist AIB.

I also think it's a bit of a con when I have a Classic V8 '66 Mustang that's worth £25K and that's only £168 p.a.

I suppose the age and relative rarity of your Mustang probably means that few are involved in accidents whereas unfortunately the accident record for 996s is almost certainly a lot higher.
Contrary to the popular perception that insurers are robbing ‘bar stewards’, they’re not and there is science behind the figures they quote. I speak as someone who had a career in the insurance and risk management business.
Good luck obtaining the cover you need at an acceptable cost.

I used A-Plan for several years and was very satisfied. Recently I switched to Locktons and the PCGB discount and customer care is very good. My 996 C4S is around £500. Good luck!

I had my Techart Turbo valued by HAGERTY AT £44K . They quote me nearly £850 for 3000 mile . I am with Classic line who quoted £368.7 ( April 2018 ). Hagerty admitted they could not match and suggested Classic Line have the 996 turbo market tied up

Well I'm glad I decided to ring Lockton's after having two other quotes at £849 and £796 as they have done what looks like better cover (well no "it's not insured if your home and it's not on the drive between 9pm and 6am") as well as free cover for PCGB track days for £388. This is on the condition of being a paid up PCGB member which I now am!
Class 1 Business Use as well - Very Happy
Now can't wait to pick it up on Saturday.

I have a 2003 996 bog standard Carrera cab, I'm 70 years old in case age has anything to do with it, and I paid around £500 for 5000 miles a year, £250 excess on windscreen etc. The car is garaged.
Can only suggest look around for quotes, although Lockton looks a fair possibility.

Admiral multicar - £117 fully comp, £250 excess, 2000 996 cab. BMW M140 2018 - £300 fully comp with £500 excess. 15+ years protected NCB also.
